Germany and Russia had an excellent political and economic relationship with each other since Gorbachev came to power right up to Putin till 2022 - your US government (especially TACO) hated that relationship and our investments into the Russian economy and to get cheap oil&gas from Russia. Even got the CIA to blow up the North-Stream pipeline.

The USA's relentless expansion of NATO caused Putin to attack Ukraine. It was the USA as NATO's big boy that requested-demanded unconditional financial and military support for Ukraine. Till your TACO the idiot thought he could get Putin on the USA side to go against China. At the end Europe ended up paying almost double of what the USA contributed and now has to face Russia by themselves.
