Seoul said on Monday that an "explosion and fire" had struck a South Korean ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the crucial Middle Eastern waterway effectively blocked following US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

The foreign ministry said that, at around 8.40pm in Seoul, "an explosion and fire occurred on a vessel operated by a South Korean shipping company ... anchored in waters near the United Arab Emirates inside the Strait of Hormuz".

Need to quickly assess if this was an internal accident or the end of Iran.

There had been "no casualties to date" among the 24 crew members on board, who include six South Koreans and 18 foreign nationals, the ministry said in a statement.

And the stock market heads south.

Good grief.

Fighting in the Iran war flared for the first time in weeks, as strikes on a crucial United Arab Emirates oil port and several ships amid Iranian threats tested a shaky cease-fire.

The U.A.E., which has backed tougher action against Iran, sounded alerts for the first time since early April, saying it was targeted by four missiles and a number of drones. It confirmed a drone hit sparked a fire at the crucial oil hub of Fujairah, which the country has used to pump much of its petroleum output around Iran’s chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. military forces including warships and aircraft actively protected several commercial vessels from Iranian attacks Monday, a senior U.S. official said. Sailors reported witnessing a successful drone strike on a tanker named JV Innovation and military jets buzzing overhead.

Military tensions flared in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, as several vessels were struck amid Iranian threats, while the U.S. sent in destroyers and fought off further attacks.

The war is "paused" indeed...

They report no casualties. I think if it was due to something Iran launched and fired at the ship, there would be a lot of casualties.

They also said it was below deck, which leads me to believe it was internal.

That or someone snuck on board and set a charge.

Not exactly sure how mines work but could it have been a below water level mine?

Those would be the easiest to detect and the USA was supposed to sweep the area clear of any potential mines. Besides, if that ship had struck a mine, it would have a ruptured hull, many dead and severe damage and would probably sink.

There is no war.

What was paused was is activity in a cat-and-mouse game the Iranians have to keep alive to survive.

As your article shows.....they are not succeeding.
Either there is no war or there’s been a war for 47 years. I wish you people would make up your minds.

Seoul is still investigating the cause of an explosion on the Hyundai Merchant Marine ship traveling in the Strait of Hormuz.

They don't even know if it was attacked or not.

We were told this war.....uh conflict was going to last 2 weeks and how long has it been now? You tell me who is succeeding.

Yes, or maybe God dood it.

It could close the hatches and seal the ballast.

Navy vessels blocking ships and firing on each other = war.

15th post
They also said it was below deck, which leads me to believe it was internal.
Mine = below water line
Cruise missile = often below water line

You don't want to consider either possibility because politics has you actively pretending there is no war.

The Media Munchers still have not realised that it is a joint Theatrical production .
They believe it is all real and have had 65 days of spouting garbage and still have no clue what is happening .

Meanwhile, later Famine looms more likely every extra day the Games continue .

And now the Strait remains wide open whilst all sides join in the games --- Musical Chairs is a winner .

Actually four to six weeks

It’s gone over a little…but don’t worry your Iranian pals are getting desperate and running out of time
