My talent is being able to navigate this screwy life fairly successfully.

I spun-up a closed 250-man prison once. I guess that skill could be useful if we ever put the leftists in camps.

Here was the kicker....I was just a watch commander and Richmond bitched and moaned the whole time about the cost of getting it back up and running.

I guess they thought that after 12 years of being closed all you had to do was unlock the door and turn on the lights, water, and gas.

I kept telling them, send someone else to manage it but they didn't. LOL....I know I was threatened with dismissal at least three times during the process.

I swear though, I had to stand on top of those "state approved contractors" more than the convicts they sent me for labor. In fact I had more faith in the convicts.

Yep, I had one the "approved" contractors tell me that one of the two NG run back-up generators would have to be replaced at the cost of many thousands of dollars.

I just called a Unit where I knew a convict who was really good with such things was and had him sent to me to check it out....He had it up and running in two days and one of them was spent waiting on about $200 in parts.....In the meantime he had fixed the furnace with on-hand parts!

I went and got him a bucket of chicken for that.
