People eating less, farmers panicking.

Thanks to the current weight loss craze, led by drugs such as Ozempic, people are losing their appetites causing food crop surpluses.

Potatoes could be made into vodka, problem solved.

No shortage of fatties in the Rustbelt, bub.

I notice people on this drug appear to lose muscle mass.

That is worse in my opinion for most people, especially if older as rebuilding muscle is difficult. For someone who needs to lose weight for serious health issues, ok, but not at the expense of muscle mass in most instances.

This is probably a good thing, and the farmers should not panic.

Global food shortages are predicted due to Putin's action in Ukraine, and Trump's in the middle east.

Aren't people drinking less, too?

Responsible farmers have warned of this for nearly 100 years. This is just one more wakeup call.

Predictably, this link has some grievous errors, one being that "soil fertility will suffer from the lack of (chemically treated) fertilizers". The truth is that soil loses its natural fertility from the use of these commercial fertilizers. The true wealth of the nation is its soil fertility, which we have recklessly squandered away due to greed, laziness, and the arrogance of our ag scientists.
