What sport is harder football or wrestling??

I would agree.
I did both.
Two totally different disciplines.
From a sheer conditioning point of view, wrestling was more difficult.
I played wide receiver so even though there was running involved, there was time between plays. But with wrestling, once the match starts, it's game on and those few minutes are exhausting.

Wow!! You must have been a great athlete !!

What was your weight??

A lot of judoka have difficulty defending doubles and outside singles, and at a loss if not wearing a dogi.

Did you guys in wrestling learn hip throws or shoulder throws ??

Is it best to do an ankle pick from wrist control??
You can bring the opp wrist down and closer to his feet ??

If your opponent rolls his hand out of your wrist control, that could leave you in a vulnerable position.

...
I played wide receiver ....
I was a cornerback and special teams. My senior year we won the state championship on the same field where the Patriots played (before Gillette). The same year we won the wrestling state championship (I was a captain). Then it was off to college (the only reason I was able to go to college).

I was not aware of these marvelous accolades you have !!

How effective is Judo without the GI ??

Does Wrestling practice have a lot of long distance running??

Ugh, A LOT. In college the whole team would meet up outside the training facility around 5 am and run all the hell around the city (sometimes into adjacent cities). Some neighborhoods had miles long streets that seemed to go straight and down. Killer on the legs. One morning me and a roommate also on the team started out fast then gradually fell behind. When everyone else pulled away around a corner, we stopped and hailed a cab (there were still cabs then). We had the cab drop us off at the end of the route, poured bottled water all over us, then put on an act of huffing and puffing bent over and looking exhausted. Totally got away with it. Just that once.

Well, I quit wrestling and concentrated on football for awhile. My high school team was state champion and totally dominated ... but the only role I played was against the starters in practice.

This is fascinating to me

I played HS tennis and I feel like a giant wuss

I was not a great athlete. I was a slightly better than average athlete. My biggest advantage was speed. I was very fast and had good hands, which suited a receiver position but we had an incredibly good upper classman squad that dominated every team and I never got to play. I left the team after my sophomore year, probably discouraged by not being able to play. And I was getting into other things ... like girls.
As for wrestling I was decent in junior high but never loved it and gave it up to concentrate on football.
I don't remember my weight class. It was a lot of years and a lot of pounds ago.
But I think was around 175 pounds at the time.

Don't.
Tennis rocks. I used to play tennis and loved it.
I don't play any sports anymore. Hell, I'm lucky to get out of my chair without hurting something. 🤣

Same here .. I was a retriever in tennis . I just ran everything down and made few errors . I was all defense and nothing else

Sounds pretty familiar. :wink_2:

Tennis is a great game. I miss playing it sometimes but have issues that won't allow me to anymore. But, man, it's a wonderful sport.

When I was in Jr High I decided I wanted to learn tennis. My older brother had a friend who was good. He spent a whole summer trying to teach me, but it was hopeless. It was around this time I came to the realization that I sucked at any sport with a round ball and no chance to hurt people.

True to this day.

Not everybody is cut out to be a great athlete. I learned that early on. I was decent at almost everything but ultimately quite average.
I enjoyed football. And tennis. But with the exception of a few football plays where I showed some flash, nobody would have looked at me and said, "Wow, that kid is really good!"

And don't get me started on baseball. That was my favorite sport but I couldn't hit the curveball.
Or the fastball.
Or anything, really.
I was just godawful. My speed helped me play the outfield but I couldn't hit to save my soul. :laughing0301:

True. I've done alright in a specific niche, but I found out what I'm good at and what I'm not. Wrestling paid for a college education and over a decade of coaching, so I can't complain.
