If your parents make twice the national average and you are white you get some special treatment. That is completely false.

I will give you an example. My children go to a private school, which is significantly more academically rigorous than public schools. The competition is much greater as well, meaning, finishing in the top 5-10% is more challenging than it would be in a public school due to the academic prowess of the average student. One would think this would be taken into account when being evaluated for admissions to a state supported school or getting a scholarship. It isn't. No consideration is given based on class rank or GPA. We have debated sending our kids to public school just so they could benefit from having a higher class rank and a higher GPA, but the trade-off is far too great when taking into account the liberal agenda and complete indoctrination of public education. You do realize that Ben Carson does support affirmative action, not race based affirmative action, but rather economic based affirmative action. That does make quite a bit more sense, but doesn't fit the narrative the Democrats want to paint. Ironically, they must stick with the race based version, which discriminates based on race and gender, all the while preaching equality. It is kind of mind boggling really.

BTW, Ben does think he benefitted from AA when getting into Yale, because he was only 3rd in his graduating class in high school, due to a not as stellar sophomore year. His SAT score, however, was very good and he scored the highest in 20 years of any student that attended Detroit public schools. If he had been raised in better schools and in a better environment, he likely would not have needed any help, if he did at all. Here is the real question. Would a white kid growing up in the same environment received any assistance? No and that is why it should be based on economics, not race or gender.
