Affirmative Action was an executive order by Lyndon Johnson. Inner cities are ruled by both republicans and democrats. A city is not a democratic city just because the mayor is a democrat. The mayor has 1 vote at the city council meeting. Blacks were republicans for 100 years. All we got was Jim Crow. We've accomplished more in the 56 years we have been democrats than in the 100 we were republican.
Below is an example of a house nword. Read both sides of the page. On the left side you will see his statement. His words echo the rhetoric of white supremacists. On the right, you will see that Carson got to his position because of everything he dissed in his comment on the left. This is what Sellouts, Uncle Toms, Lawn Jockeys, and house nwords do. Well, in 2008, he got 353 electoral votes. Many of those votes came from states that are currently red states.
The people who voted for him were people, not politicians.
And when any politician says they brought people together, they are talking about representatives. I hope this isn't news to you.

You do realize that Ben Carson does support affirmative action, not race based affirmative action, but rather economic based affirmative action. That does make quite a bit more sense, but doesn't fit the narrative the Democrats want to paint. Ironically, they must stick with the race based version, which discriminates based on race and gender, all the while preaching equality. It is kind of mind boggling really.
BTW, Ben does think he benefitted from AA when getting into Yale, because he was only 3rd in his graduating class in high school, due to a not as stellar sophomore year. His SAT score, however, was very good and he scored the highest in 20 years of any student that attended Detroit public schools. If he had been raised in better schools and in a better environment, he likely would not have needed any help, if he did at all. Here is the real question. Would a white kid growing up in the same environment received any assistance? No and that is why it should be based on economics, not race or gender.

Probably not. Probably should have done something else with the power. I'm glad for the ACA...but I would have preferred other legislation myself. And I do believe I said so at the time.
