whatever gets them excited, christians ... is their way of leaning.

Christian leaders should understand the difference, and at least take note of the horrific oppression, corruption, and suppression that inevitably follows a country's embrace of socialism.

which christian doesn't makebelieve the above is socialism ... than their pandering a difference among all govt's equally culpable of the above.

- or just in their own dark hearts.

sure, they just need to work on the honor part Ding.......~S~
I think you meant to say everyone does. Not only is it an honor system, it's voluntary. You don't need to be bad mouthing religion. Religion is just a tool. It's not good or evil. And as for the religious leaders... no one is all bad or all good. My desire is that everyone is judged by their worst moments or no one is judged by their worst moments. So in case you missed the nuance, I'm implying you judge others by their worst moments. You're missing half of the picture.

You are quite judgemental to your own detriment. Apparently you have become what you supposedly hate.

Ah, no, I only put people on Iggy who are flaming buttholes not worth talking to because they are not interested in real discussion, and in this case, the malfeasant had no way of knowing I had ever put him on ignore much less just took him off.

Who knows, maybe he talks smack all the time trying to get a rise out of people looking for attention.

Ding, do you realize you're talking about a faction that not only has judged , condemned , burnt heretics to death, murdered women & children, and invaded countless countries under the banner of religion ?

Do you not also realize they've changed all the rules of God, repetitively and for their own worldly gains ,embracing the seven deadlies and violating the 10 commandments when it's convenient for them?

Religion is a tool.......... for satan

What is something good that cannot be turned used for evil?

15th post
the stigma of good is what attracts them - of which desert dwellers have wallowed in, evil - from their beginnings ...

It's hard for me to argue with emotion and rhetoric. Nothing I say will matter. Try putting it into the context of the day. Those heretics weren't innocent victims. They were pretty reprehensible and were effectively at war with the Church.... for centuries.

The Church had no armies. The First Crusade was largely a noble-led campaign rather than one led by kings. Subsequent crusades were led by major kings. The Church provided the "spiritual" sanction, while the monarchs and nobility provided the military might.

The crusades - which occurred during the High Middle Ages -were primarily a series of eight major military expeditions launched by Western European Christians to reclaim the Holy Land, specifically Jerusalem, from Muslim control between 1095 and 1291. They began after the Early Middle Ages, marking a time of increased European expansionism and organized religious warfare. So you are bitching and moaning about something which occurred 700 to 1000 years ago. How about turning your ire towards the militant atheist regimes of the 20th century which was less than 100 years ago and killed 100 million people?

Let me stop you right there Ding, read this>>>>

Theocracies are systems of government where religious leaders or divine figures hold supreme authority, deriving power from religious dogma. Historically, they range from divine monarchs in ancient Egypt and Japan to clerical rules like Calvin’s Geneva or modern Iran. They function by equating religious law with civil law.

Historical Examples of Theocracies:
  • Ancient Egypt: Pharaohs were considered divine mediators or gods themselves (e.g., Ra).
  • Ancient Israel: Historically viewed as a kingdom ruled by divine authority and prophecy.
  • Tibetan Empire/Tibet: Traditionally led by the Dalai Lama, combining spiritual and political leadership.
  • Byzantine Empire: Characterized by "caesaropapism," where the emperor had supreme power over the church, blurring the lines between divine and state power.
  • Caliphates: Historical Islamic empires (e.g., Abbasid, Ottoman) where the caliph was both political leader and spiritual successor.
  • Florence (1494–1498): Led by Girolamo Savonarola, a Dominican friar, who instituted a strict religious republic.
  • Geneva (16th Century): Under John Calvin, the city council merged with church leadership to govern through religious principles.
  • Bogd Khanate of Mongolia (1911–1919): A Buddhist theocracy led by the Bogd Gegen.

Key Characteristics and Examples:
  • Divine Right/Divinity: In many systems, rulers were viewed as divine (Japan's emperor until 1947, Egyptian Pharaohs).
  • Clerical Rule (Hierocracy): In other cases, professional clergy manage the state, as seen in the Papal States (Vatican) or modern Iran.
  • Legal Code: Religious law (e.g., Sharia, Canon Law) dictates civil laws.

Modern Theocracies:
  • Vatican City: An absolute monarchy ruled by the Pope.
  • Iran: An Islamic republic with supreme clerical oversight since 1979.
  • Afghanistan: Governed under Sharia law.
  • Saudi Arabia: Governed under Islamic law with state-enforced religious compliance.
