You might be right about a new gene pool being needed (wherever that would come from), because during the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond, it somehow encapsulated or ensnared a lot of politician's who thought that being initiated in DC was some sort of frat boy and girl party initiation type of thing.

A lot of them however are old and dying out now, but sadly the future isn't looking good because the frat boy and girl initiations somehow continue the same as it did back then, but it's at a new twisted level that'll make a sailor blush.

Bullshit. Trump, his policies and his dopey supporters aren't even republican. They're populist and short sighted at best. No conservative philosophy exists with magaturds. I believe the magaturd embrace of his populist horseshit has single handedly fucked the republican party for a long time coming.

To me, the one word at the heart of this disaster is "fight". Let me try to explain.

The voices these people trust have been telling them, literally for decades, that the country is rigged against them and that their only recourse is to "fight". And who are these people they trust? They're media figures, originally radio, who have to communicate in sound bytes. Short, simple, shallow, clear, direct. In between commercial breaks. The media cannot hold an attention span for long, so it must repeat (and repeat and repeat, pun intended). A message requires frequency, repetition, to connect.

From Limbaugh to Hannity to Carlson, media does not allow for long form, detailed, in depth examination of issues and possible processes for improving things. That simply takes too long. It can only spit out scary stories and quick fixes in short bursts. So, rather than a careful, reasoned, comprehensive analysis of an issue, its possible causes, and the pros and cons of various fixes, these people get only get the quick answers that keep them tuning in: FIGHT. One word, five letters.

And, by the way, there is more than one way to FIGHT. FIGHT can mean "advocate for your positions". So one can FIGHT with intelligence, curiosity and care. But promoting that doesn't get ratings. So these people have been conditioned for decades to approach problems emotionally, by banging on them with a stick. What is the predictable result? Trump, MTG, Boebert, etc.

Even as Trump is being indicted in who knows how many different investigations and charges, Trump is far, far ahead of any of his primary opponents in every single state. It's not even close. I know of no state where someone polls better than Trump. None. Zero, zip, nodda, and that even includes the primaries in liberal states. And, in polling for the general election, Trump is basically tied with Biden. Sometimes polls show Biden ahead, sometimes polls show Trump ahead. In either case, the needle doesn't move much and is usually within the polls margin of error and, we know that with the electoral college, a 50/50 tie favors Trump.

So, what is it that the left just don't get or understand about Trump?

Do they really believe that half of the country are just pure MAGA head insurrectionists, literally tens of millions of people, if not over 100 million?

What is Trump's appeal to the masses?

Are the left ignoring something that is appealing to half the country, those tens of millions of people?

Should the left start understanding this more rather than just labeling half the country MAGA's?

Is ignoring the true meaning of Trump's appeal to half the country going to come back and bite them in the ass, as it did in 2016?

I'm a big believer that the left just don't understand why it is that people vote for Trump and that this easy dismissal of his voters as being nothing but "MAGA" is rather blind of them and that they need to understand Trump voters more. In a way, it has nothing to do with Trump, it has to do with why voters want to vote for Trump. The left don't even try to understand this. It's easier for them to believe that all of Trump's supporters are MAGA.
