Let me make this perfectly clear.
* Did John Adams say that? Yes. It is part of history? Yes. Is it interesting to know what he said? Maybe yes, maybe no. It's up to you.
Does what he said have any bearing or does it lend any credibility to today's situation? No. So history is only interesting/important to those who think it is and whether or not it is still relevant today is another matter entirely.
* Vietnam. We were discussing facts of the history of the Vietnam War. If you ask or make a statement about Vietnam I assume you are interested. I happen to have a great deal of knowledge on the Vietnam War but if you don't want to know that's your business.
