Zone1 What are Your Deepest Confusions About God?

What nonsense.
Your prejudices about history are not history. Are you for example able to explain to me what chess could have to with the crusades?
1. Does a circle have a beginning and an end? Saying "no" is not nonsense.

2. What prejudices? My avatar is a crusader. The crusades are part of history.
Here is an interesting article about chess and how it developed over time.

3. I'm an avid chess player. But Stockfish kicks my ass, every time.

2. What prejudices? My avatar is a crusader. The crusades are part of history.

So what has chess to do with the crusades, fake-crusader?

And why do you have this video? Why not a video where a wounded crusader and a wounded saracene lie bed to bed and are cared for by a templar?

„Non nobis Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!“

-----
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them. O Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron; he will bless those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great. May the Lord give you increase, you and your children! May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth! The heavens are the Lord’s heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of man. The dead do not praise the Lord, nor do any who go down into silence. But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lord!

You are getting more complex as you get older.
Are you a priest or were you a seminarian?
Your posts are heavy in religious and philosophical content.

1. Chess has nothing to do with the Crusades except possibly to expand it across the known world faster.

2. Am I a fake crusader? Sure, the crusades are long over, but the Crusaders should be admired and honored

3. I like that video to see how the crusades were possibly fought. Knights baking in the desert heat wearing heavy armor, no water, long supply lines, a very difficult war. There were 3 or 4 Crusades about 1100-1200 AD, one famous one was fought between Richard the Lionhearted and Saladin.

4. I also admire the Templars. They were fantastic builders. I'm a retired engineer.
I often wonder if Templars are considered Guardian Angels.
I don't know if Saladin allowed Templars to care for the wounded, but he was somewhat chivalrous.

5. Templar chant

Two of my hobbies are water coloring painting and gardening, which makes me a creator. As the creator, I do not live inside my watercolors, or inside my garden. I do not depend on either color or garden soil to exist. The painting cannot move itself off the wall then back on again; no plant in my garden can walk out of it, go for a stroll, then return. Their existence is inside the creation; My existence is outside the creation.

Another point about creators and their creations. The creator does not compete with anything within his/her creation. For example, I don’t compete with cucumbers or dahlias; nor do I compete with a painted rock or waterfall.

God’s creation is the universe, and like all other creators, the Creator lives/exists outside His creation. He does not compete with it.

So falls the atheist straw man that those who do not believe in Zeus are atheists, too. No, because, you see, Zeus does not meet the definition of God as a being who lives outside this world.

Catholic Bishop Barron notes that people have deep confusions about God, and perhaps we have not taught about God as well as we should.
None really.

... Chess has nothing to do with the Crusades ...

That's wrong. In this time of history all rulers played chess. Chess is a game for warriors.

Overview: In 1066 the Normans (who had seddled since about 300 years in the Normandy under Franks (=Germans)) on reason to protect the English and Franks against Vikings had conquered the Anglo-Saxons (also Germans) and Brits there. The Franks (or Frankonians) including the Normans had been very religious and builded many Cathedrals. Nearly the same time the Seljuks (a Turkish tribe, Muslims) had conquered Jerusalem and Mekk. If you think back to the times of Charlesmagne (German)´and Harun El Raschid (Arab, very well known from the fairiy tales of 1001 nights) then you will notice that in this fairy tales the Islam not plays a big role. One reason fro tehi was that most people had bene Christians and not Muslims. The Muslim rulers not really had been interested to make Christians to Muslims because Christians had to pay a special kind of tax, a security tax which guaranteed Christians had not to be attacked but protected. So it existed nearly no conflicts between Chrtasun and Muslims. This changed now. And in this context it became more difficult for Christians to go on pilgrimage to Jerusalem what was emphasized as a catastrophe ... Jerusalem was the middle of the world.

And what has this to do with chess now? Very easy: Who controls the central fields in the game chess - the game of the kings - will win the game. Who will own Jerusalem, will own the whole world, the whole universe. A stupid simplifying "simulation" replaced reality in the brains. And that's what the most people are also doing today. Tonight for example I saw a wonderful show about astronomy in combination with symphonic music. In this context they made a big mistake by saying the Earth is only an unimportant little point and human beings play no role and get no help from no one. A hopeless atheistic perspedctive. The reality in physics is that the universe knows nothing about such hierarchies. Wherever you will travel in the universe you will always see the whole expaneding universe all around you. The universe knows no insignificant marginal points. So take care which stupid game you are really playing. Life is the most valueable substance in the universe.

By the way: In former times the crusades had been called "Frankonian wars" from the Arabs. "Crusade" is indeed nothing what is Christian. As less as the slogan "god wills it" is Christian. Indeed this are elements of the Islam. A crusade is nothing else than the little jihad (very short: to conquer others). But indeed the big jihad is important (=to conquer oneselve).

You should learn to listen.

Non nobis, domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam

Totally unimportant. The crusaders cared. They did not hate their enemies. Let me say it in this way: They had been the Christian Shaolin of their time. They fought with the normal military methods of their time - but they always respected everyone. To kill someone in a fight was unevitable. But to help wounded enemies aftrer a battle was also a duty for them. Sure they only had been able to help when they wan.

1. I agree that "chivalry" was a big part of the "Warrior Code" at that time. Saladin spared non-combatants after he won a battle. One of our WW1 movies showed that after a US pilot shot down a German ace he strafed his downed plane killing him introducing brutality or "total war" to the world. Before that "murder" the Brits and German pilots had upheld the Warrior Code of "chivalry". I have no clue if that is true or not.

2. You dodged my earlier questions about your background. Historian?, seminarian?, philosopher? professor?

3. The older I get the more I listen...

4. I'm not sure one has to "conquer" one's self, as much as respect the life we have been given and to honor those who made us what we are.

5. There was a terror attack in New Orleans last night, a man in a pickup truck killed 10 and injured 40, very similar to the Christmas attack in Germany. I'm not feeling very charitable this morning.

No idea. But indeed the pilots of world war 1 had been somehow the last knights - but real knights never died out. When someone had no ammunition any longer it could happen the other pilot said "bye bye" and left the battlefield. To kill a helpless enemy was honorless.

But "total war" has absolutelly nothing to do with this. I say often in World War 1 Hitler was born. The expression "total war" -m basing on Ludendorf - was used from the Nazi propaganda after World War 1. When it was very clear that World War 2 is lost Joseph Goebbels filled the Sportpalast in Berlin with Nazis as audience and actors for his famous "total war speech". It ended with the words:

Die Engländer behaupten, das deutsche Volk wehrt sich gegen die totalen Kriegsmaßnahmen der Regierung. Es will nicht den totalen Krieg, sondern die Kapitulation. (Zurufe: Niemals! Niemals! Niemals!) Ich frage euch: Wollt ihr den totalen Krieg?“
Joseph Goebbels
The British claim that the German people are resisting the government's total war measures. They don't want total war, they want surrender. (Shouts: Never! Never! Never! Never!) I ask you: Do you want total war?”

2. You dodged my earlier questions about your background. Historian?, seminarian?, philosopher? professor?

Idiot.

If I remember well Buddhists use the picture of a rider and horse. The spirit is the rider the body is the horse. The spirit gives the commands the horse obeys. But let me say: A horse will throw off a stupid heartless rider. In my near I heard once from a young man who stressed his body to death so his body switched him just simple off. He forgot everything. As if his body had pressed a reset button and tried to look for a new spirit. Never heard what had happened later with this man. I hope his body got a new spirit.

I saw the mother who lost her 9 years old son. She was totally down because she was not able to see her dead son up to now. And still she will have to wait 2 days she was informed. She asked "Why they are so cruel to me?". I hope they will present her the body of her son in a memorizable and honorful way - and this is the reason for why she has to wait. And while I write this now my eyes are full of tears but my hope is in Jesus the Christ. Sometimes only god is able to help. But he gives us the power not to look aside.
Fortunatelly depends our feeling of mourning on the social (and so also on the real) distance - otherwise I had no idea how we could live with all the compassion and love which is needed in the world for all the people who are suffering today. Fortunatelly I also learned to dance on graves - not verbally but the dead who love us love it when someone dances for them and is joyful. One day we all will see us again in another world.

1. A true WW2 story was that a US B-17 bomber was badly damaged and heading back to Britain when a German fighter (Franz Stigler) came up to it, but he spared the helpless crew. They had a reunion with all of the families that would not have existed if the German had finished off the bomber.

2. Buddhist beliefs? A reasonable analogy of the soul and body. So what is their belief about God?

3. I'm sorry about that mother. I keep seeing the brutality in Gaza where the Israelis just destroyed the last hospital in Gaza. The world is not heading in a good direction. I hope you are correct about the after-life. Here in the US a talented painter was dead, met Jesus, and then painted a portrait of him, who was then recognized by another dead child that came back, Its not proof, but its encouraging.

None. Their concept is a totally other concept. The 4 noble truthes lead to an eightfold noble way. Main theme is to end ... how to say this? ... perhaps in this way: our always new reborn wrong attitudes who let us suffer. They seek truth more in inner meditation - our way is more in outer contemplation.

3. I'm sorry about that mother.

Me too. It's terrible what had happened to her. A mother should never lose her child. But this happens often now - much too often. All over the world.

I keep seeing the brutality in Gaza where the Israelis just destroyed the last hospital in Gaza.

On the other side fíres the Hamas still rockets and hostages are still not free - and the highest absurdity are often the critics of the people who gave to the Hamas a lot of money since 2 decades without elections so they had been able to brainwash so many Palestinians. And I'm still not sure about the role of Russia and the Iran in all this conflicts. I never found any real reasons why the Iran fights Israel. Also this is absurde.

The world is not heading in a good direction.

Exactly.

I hope you are correct about the after-life. Here in the US a talented painter was dead, met Jesus, and then painted a portrait of him, who was then recognized by another dead child that came back, Its not proof, but its encouraging.

It's difficult to paint a White-Asian-Black shuffling kilt wearer.

1. Thanks for the hint about Buddhism.

2. True

3. Hamas killed infants by burning them, that apparently turns normal Israelis into vicious animals. Which in turn causes Muslims to seek revenge in a vicious non-ending cycle.

4. How Jesus reveals himself must depend on the beholder. The point I was trying to make is that they both saw him the same way, and that's how she painted him. No kilt.

No no no no no no no. Do not make yourselve to a stupid racist. Netanjahu and his politics is one side - I dislike this idiot - better to say his politics - very much - but the other side are the human beings. First of all is [seeking] truth the first what dies in wars - meanhile seeking the truth dies even during peace in the "post-factual" world. Much too many people believe thoughts and narratives create reality. Thoughts and narratives create lies - and in best case wonderful fantasies and also wonderful reality simulations. A chirurg should know what he is doing, isn't it? But politics is swampy. Who doesn't take care sinks to death in non-existent quicksand. Read Kaffka's "Vor dem Gesetz" ... one moment ... here is it: Vor dem Gesetz, by Franz Kafka: Before the Law, English Translation, and Original Text in German

The most sad comment in this context I got from an older Jewish Lady who said "I hate it very much that I can feel no compassion for Palestines any longer." (The Hamas terrorists had killed her son). In general is it for Jews much more worse than for anyone else in the world when someone kills a Jew because he is a Jew. This happens since thousands of years now and drives all Jews nervous. Why murder terrorists visitors of a music festival? By the way: Palestine terrorist also broke the Olympic peace and murdered sportsmen in Munich in 1972. No people from all cultures of the world would do so - even when they think the Olympic peace is only an ancient pagan fantasy any longer. But it's a totally other thing to make the Olympic peace to a fantasy by murdering. ... Back to the theme: Your learned anti-Semitism and the currently active political propaganda structures. I personally do not know what's currently really going on in Gaza - but the Palestines are Muslims and Arabs and it exist about as many Arabs as exist Europeans. So I think the Arabs will help each other and will publish everything what's a disaster in Gaza. But another thing is also clear to me: Not any nation of the world - specially not you US-Americans - can live with that hostages will be killed every time when the government makes a decision which is not in the interest of foreign terrorists.

Which in turn causes Muslims to seek revenge

Revenge for what? That the Jews took care that the Palestines have/had the highest population growth at all on the whole planet? If we
Germans had had the same population growth it would exist meanwhile a billion Germans.

in a vicious non-ending cycle.

Your former president Jimmy Carter - a really great man - cared for peace between Egypt and Israel. He showed: Peace is no empty phrase. Now this great soul left us. I'm sure we will meet him again - except god will give me the order to go to hell - then I will go to hell.

You think Jesus wears no kilt? Hmmm ... not sure about.

1. My take-away from the Kafka article is: never be afraid to challenge the gatekeepers of "the Law".

2. I'm not a Jimmy Carter fan. Reagan was way better.

3. There is no answer to the Gaza disaster, I'm just hoping WW3 doesn't start.

4. Are you worried that Germany is turning into Gaza with too many Muslim immigrants? I hear that there are more Mosques in France than churches.

Reagan? Why "better" - whatever this could be?

3. There is no answer to the Gaza disaster,

Okay - seems to me you are an anti-Semite and not able to change this.

I'm just hoping WW3 doesn't start.

Hope? If you let it be to fight against World War 3 you will perhaps have to fight in World War 3.

4. Are you worried that Germany is turning into Gaza with too many Muslim immigrants?

Eh? What has Germany to do with Gaza and/or Palestines? Nothing or nothing? Since 1972 the Palestines have to be happy when we let live them in peace.

I hear that there are more Mosques in France than churches.

Let me see ... In 2006 existed 2.147 places of worship for Muslims in France. And I remember I was a long time ago in a church in the near of the place where Albert Schweitzer once grew up. Very impressing old church.

1. After his presidency Jimmy Carter wrote countries asking them not to join with the US in the war against Saddam Hussein. Jimmy Carter was a traitor.

2. Ronald Reagan's policies made the USSR collapse.

3. I'm not anti anything I don't have a dog in that fight.

4. The Palestinians should be happy living in peace, but they are not. The October 7th attack proves they are animals.

5. Muslims are dominating Old Europe.

End of "discussion". Sorry that I wasted your time. Thought it's worth to do so. My mistake.

OMG  ... You are totally unreal and totally sick. How are you able to compare Palestinians with animals so the word "god" burns not down your tongue the moment you speak it out?

No one here in Germany who I know saw by the way your stubborn president Ronald Reagan in the role that he made the USSR collapse. Ronald Reagan was extremely unflexible and was only satisfied with a 100% success in all questions of the German reunion. He was a major obstacle on this path. The result of his everything-or-nothing politics for the USA we are able to see today in Putin. And the destabilization of international law and order - which we see today in and around Russia - started with George W. Bush's unjustified war on the Iraq. Not a heroic act either. Caused a lot of terrorism in the world.

And let it be to attack god with your form of anti-belief in god. You are a human being and your country is a country. None of both is god. Many people need the help of god and you seem to have nothing else to do then to block the ways leading to him because you seem to think the only way is the way which leads to you and your indoctrinated and indoctrinating perverted ideas. Violence is no solution. For nothing.
