That’s not quite what they said. Eight weeks but it must be done in a hospital and the rape or incest must be reported to the police. There is absolutely no reason for it to be done in a hospital other than to increase the cost and difficulty for the victim.

It’s much worse for victims of incest. They are usually children, and can be extremely difficult and take time and counseling before they are willing to report the crime since the perpetrator is a family member. So you add pregnancy on top of that.

It says children under 18 get up to 14 weeks. That seems reasonable.

As far as reporting the rape, that’s because everyone who wanted an abortion would claim they were raped by didn’t report it at the time. So that seems reasonable as well.

And as far as the hospital requirement, not sure what their thinking is, but maybe because it would be easier to monitor to make sure the law is being followed.

1. That woman's life is not "discarded", because she will go on living.
