Every generation has something to condemn it and something to commend it. The generation that grew up and came of age in the aftermath of WWII had far more to commend it than condemn it. Overall, the nuclear family was still common, neighbors took care of neighbors, there was less crime, less sociopolitical hostility, shared values of morality, personal responsibility and accountability in ALL demographics even considering the real racial and sexist injustices that existed. Most folks went to church, worked to support themselves, gave something to help the poor. Most places were safe and good environments for children to grow up without worry about insane school shootings despite the fact that there were gun racks with guns in them in the pickups in the student parking lots. Children could play throughout the neighborhood without parents worrying that they would be molested or abducted.

The government had not yet made God unwelcome in the schools and other public venues, had not ripped apart families and encouraged single parenthood and more poverty and violent street gangs by establishing a welfare state and other social engineering, had not destroyed vital supportive old neighborhoods with their urban renewal projects.

Many injustices in society have been corrected by subsequent generations moving forward just as has been the case with civilizations over the millennia. Such evolution is welcome and appreciated. But we should never believe that all so-called progress is good. Some has far reaching, detrimental, even deadly long range consequences that if the current generation won't admit and correct will need to be addressed by subsequent generations.

Verlin Spencer, the 38-year-old principal of South Pasadena Junior High School, killed five of his colleagues and left another seriously injured in shootings at two locations, that happened in 1940.

One thing we can agree on:

I lived thru the 50s. I would never want that Era back. Ever. Except for the unions being alive and well. People brag about how the mom could stay home. That's because dad had a union job. Now this nation has created an effort to get rid of unions...and thus ushered in the necessity of 2 income parents. Then they still believe in no time for paid time so a new mother can take care of her newborn. Then they're still dumb enough to complain about how there's not enough babies born. It will never end.

Imagine all the ignorance and repugnant people he had to overcome because he was so much more talented than all other players. The people who tried to stall him were anti american.
Yes, but brave whites didn’t take the easy route and got attacked for doing what’s right.

People who use skin color for judgement are very disgusting people, don’t you agree?

Yep. But it's mind boggling to even question at all Jackie Robinson. The whites that did were scum. Pure scum. And imagine this...I'm a white guy.

But quality of life was exponentially greater.
No it really wasn't. But union jobs allowed women to stay home. Getting rid of unions ruined that. Ignorance won. So the anti union movement is to blame for the necessity of 2 income families.
