Just compare to what you get today.

Music.
Think of all the groups you still hear today.

Sports.
Think of all the players in those decades.

Personal welfare.
Common for lower class families to own homes. With one income.

Health.
Look at any picture of crowds in the 50’s - 70’s.
Few fat people.

Politics.
Left and Right disagreed. But both wanted America and its citizens to succeed.

Technology.
We went from everyone having phones to computers, internet, satellites, etc.

Work careers.
Very common to work in one company your entire career and get a pension.

Entertainment.
Think of all the shows and movies from those decades still around today.

Yes it was, other than the fact that "the silent generation" who was mostly in charge of industry at the time, was trying their level best to poison us all with pollution.....But us boomers are the ones that took care of that.

Youngins of today have no fuckin' clue how it was pollution-wise back then. Massive fish kills, acid rain, rivers on fire, poisoned wells, birth defects, "unexplained" cancers no end, etc..

I guess that's why I scoff at their hair on fire predictions about the hoax of climate change. Environmental pollution was real and something you could see (and often smell) every-single-day.

The LSD was better back then.

this is highly subjective
in the 1950s and 1960s people were breeding like rabbits
the 60s had cool cars a great pop music
the birth control pill gave us the sexual revolution in the 1970s
the 70s had disco music and crazy cloths and SNL
the 80s had some cool music and MTV
the 80s had the aids epidemic
the 90s had some great rock songs
around 2000 things started going down hill
nowadays young men are afraid of women

That was the heyday of America.
  • 1950s: Post WWII Happy Days.
  • 1960s: Free love and mind expansion. We dared think we could give Peace a chance.
  • 1970s: Still only 2 billion people in the world, free of war, free to self-actualize, technology boom looking to the future and American's dollar and standard of living for the Middle Class were at their absolute highest.
By the late '70s, everything started stalling out and then we went into the dull doldrums of the 1980s and it has been downhill ever since.

Being a Boomer it was absolutely great being a child in the 1950s, a teenager/young adult in the 1960s (except for that Vietnam thingy) and starting a family and career in the 1970s.

I wouldn't trade that life timeline for any other in the history of the world.

AND THE 1940s

Who couldn’t forget Mickey Mantle, the greatest middle class we’ve ever had in the country the post World War II economic. Low crime rates. No mass school shootings.

Again NO MASS SCHOOL SHOOTINGS

GOD BLESS OUR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS FOR GIVING US A GREAT HISTORY
