They weren't abiding by the existing one.

You missed the boat.....Iran had been ignoring the treaty for quite some time. As I said before, they were jerking around the IAEA inspectors almost from day one.

You're terribly mistaken here...... Trump representing the US, withdrew from the treaty...... the treaty remained in place, without US participation.

So why didn't the other signatories to the treaty object to Iran vamping up enriching capabilities?

After the US left the JCPOA, they threatened anyone with penalties or sanctions if they did business with Iran! The whole point of the JCPOA from Iran's perspective was to allow them to sell it's oil, export their goods, etc, and gain accesss to the swift banking system again, and restart their economy. How would they do that when other countries, or businesses are now under threat from the Trump administration??? The deal was literally DOA at this point.
