NCIS is national. So it is no tougher in IL than Montana.

I have a very simple solution, and it wouldn't involved government.

Make the gun industry completely responsible for background checks. They can set up whatever system they see fit, institute whatever background checks they want.

But they lose liability protections for those gun crimes when they sell a gun to the wrong person.

Now, this is EXACTLY what the banks do now.

I compare the mortgage application process I underwent in 2004 (which was simple, and maybe I shouldn't have gotten one given how much debt I was carrying at the time.) compared to what I had to go through in 2021.

In 2021, they wanted to check everything. Forget I had a Credit score north of 800, or that I was making a lot more money, or had absolutely no credit card debt. Nope, I had to document every financial transaction for the last 5 years. It took over a month to get approval, and even then, the Bank Lady said she was impressed how quickly approval came back.
