Because he did good as well. What people like you don’t understand is that people aren’t ”good” or “bad”. They are a mixture. An even bigger mistake people like you make is judging historical people by modern standards. You can only judge them by the standards of their time. People in the future will judge us poorly if they use their standards. Morality changes from year to year, decade to decade, century to century. Was Queen Elizabeth the First a bad person because she sponsored pirates to operate against the Spanish? Or was she a hero because she saved England from invasion and conquest by Spain? How about Spartacus, was he a bad person because the escaped slaves he led raped, tortured and killed Romans? Or was he a hero because he tried to free Roman slaves and lead them to freedom? How about Robin Hood (if he actually existed), rebel, criminal, thief or hero?
