Why not call them Mohicans its the name of the tribe that was in and around New York and it sounds more respectful!
Our social justice twits consider any use of Native American names or imagery to be unacceptable.

Were they called the Washington Red's, Whites, Blue's I can't see a problem. There may be a problem with 'skins' if people of Indigenous descent object fair enough just drop the 'skins'What the fuck has it got to do with Marxist/Leninism ? You dumb twat!
Actually this whole thing IS about Socislism, Political Correctness and the idea that nobody can ever be offended.
That’s all the 25+ year movement to change this team’s name is all about... making people feel good because they’ve forced the team to change a name those people find offensive; even though they have no stake In the team or its name.
If not then anyone who objects saying its offensive they should be made to prove it or shut up its just their opinion.
Don't know why they call themselves Redskins anyway if it it no way represents their Club or fans. In England teams are usually just named after the town/city which may be added.
or FC Football club, or UTD United. Washington UTD sounds good. Rovers, Athletic. All these are neutral. Arsenal the club I support were founded from workers at a WWI munitions factory. Nicknamed The Gunners.
They are being threatened to be denied use of their new stadium if they don’t kowtow.
Washington Redskins' move to new stadium may require name change
Dan Snyder, who is the owner of the team, has previously said that he will not be changing the name, despite an increase in criticism of the name as offensive to Native Americans.www.yardbarker.com
I'm thinking not...the Redskins own the stadium.
Somehow doubt the was Fred's Idea and naming rights to the stadium does not give naming rights to team.
No, it certainly doesn't. But if FedEx pulls out of its relationship with the team, as Nike has apparently done, the financial damage could be catastrophic.
If you could read, you'd see I'm doing the same. I was also goofing on your 'Klansmen' post.
I don’t “goof”. I don’t have a sense of humor, especially with important shit like this.

In that case, the Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Cardinals will need to be changed.
Yet teams change their name all the time. Its not that much of a big deal. Unless you make it a big deal. They will still come especially if you win.
Trivia question ? how many professional sports team still have the same name.
Rangers being one of them in both baseball and hockey
Derogatory name for early patriot's given to them by the British. Yankee is the same as the term "jerk off" that we use today. Great term for that franchise.
okay it is hard but NY Yankees were originally named the Baltimore Orioles but change their name when they moved to New York .
The Yankees changed their name 107 years ago. That’s not a meaningful example.
I will not, under any circumstances, root for a team not named the Washington Redskins.
I'm thinking not...the Redskins own the stadium.
The team wants a new stadium on the site of the old RFK Stadium in DC. Local politicians have said it would not be allowed and no taxpayer monies could be used if the name isn’t changed.
