That’s the obvious problem. It even applies to parents who were illegally in the country.
true but at the time we did not have people crossing the border either
the 14th addressed the issue of that day, they were not thinking ahead 100+ years ago
The wording was very wide open, not if you are a legal citizen but anybody
We have a border, we have ICE now
1866 we did not, the USA was not thinking about the Mexican border at all
And the obvious solution is fixing it with another constitutional amendment. That’s the obvious problem.
Nah, just find judges to interpret the way you want them to. It’s the democrat way.And the obvious solution is fixing it with another constitutional amendment.
The courts have to go by the clear text as written. And not how they would have written it.
yes they were crossing from Mexico into basically SE Mexican territoryFirst off we've had people crossing the border, for as long as we had borders. But the population in the US was doubling every 25 years (3% annual growth) which is far more than we have today.
And as far as not thinking ahead, neither did those who wrote the 2nd amendment.
But that only means the only way to change it, is to amend the constitution one more time.
Until then, birthright citizenship applies to everyone born here, except by diplomats or invading armies.
I would never have figured that you couldn't find one nation that does what the United States does? Did you even try? That's what I figured.
I'd have to disagree here.First off we've had people crossing the border, for as long as we had borders. But the population in the US was doubling every 25 years (3% annual growth) which is far more than we have today.
And as far as not thinking ahead, neither did those who wrote the 2nd amendment.
