Saw MacNamara again on Charlie Rose. Brilliant man who is in my opinion much maligned with extreme prejudice and ignorance for reality. When he spoke of the war as being viewed within the context of the US policy of containment, I could see how he ended up sticking with it for so long ebfore he broke with Johnson.
