Nothing wrong with having guns for defense, but it is illegal to point a gun at someone unless you have legal justification for killing someone. Its called reckless endangerment because all it takes is a flinch and it can go off.
He didn't point the gun at anyone, and his finger wasn't even on the trigger (neither was hers). I understand some people think guns can magically fire by the power of thought, and that bullets can ricochet off tree branches and the grass without losing any ballistic energy, but that's not how they work.
