My new one is an Insignia (Best Buy brand) 1000 watt, 1.1 cubic ft. Same as the old one but smaller overall. Got it on sale for around $89 but I just checked and it's up to $100. The only downside I found is the controls are unreadable in low light so if I'm using it at night I simply turn the kitchen light on.True. Most of us wait for them to quit before replacing them. But as you observed, that might not be the wisest policy.
We don't use the toaster a lot as we like to toast the bread in the toaster oven so that it can toast the butter into the bread as it toasts. So the toaster is still like new. The toaster oven and microwave both get frequent workouts though and we should probably look into replacing both.
