UK and France deploy troops to Ukraine to pressure Vladimir Putin: "We must weaken his war machinery"

OK, this means the adults are in charge again.

I am surprised that the lessons of 1938 and the failure almost ninety years ago at Munich are still remembered in western Europe.

This begins with meetings in London on Thursday from the participating nations

The mission is to protect the ceasefire, but in reality it it is to keep Russia from taking Ukraine, just like South Korea is protected by more than 20,000 ground and air force personnel.

Russia would be stupid to encroach on these forces. Stay east, little Russia, stay east.
Europeans are far more aware of the lessons of Munich than most Americans are.

Especially after watch the “leader of the western world openly side with Russia.

BTW, the lessons of 1914 are on people’s minds too.

It's not our war and I'm weary of my tax dollars supporting it. I certainly don't want American lives wasted on it

Don’t worry. Once your beloved fuhrer gives Ukraine away to Putin, there will be a bigger war down the line, one that the US won’t be able to avoid.

Just like the last two time we leet your kind of parochial thinking prevail.

Quitting and betrayal may be Trump traits. But they are not the attributes of any world leader.

Well leaving the appropriateness of confronting Russia aside, there will be serious problems if British troops start to die in their thousands, we all know already that Russia (unlike the USA) isn't fazed by losing soldiers, in their world that's what soldiers are for, the old school view.

But Britain won't react well to this, and the Americans would lose it if hundreds of their soldiers started to die which is why the US has focused heavily on air superiority for years ever since Vietnam.

I'm expecting China to assert itself sooner or later too over Taiwan, both Taiwan and Japan are arming with US weapons and are doing what their US masters want of them, taking the brunt of a war while the US sits back and sends the bombs.

How do you imagine 10,000 Europeans fighting without US support will deter Putin from removing NATO's threat from his western border?

UK proposes Western peacekeeping mission of 10,000 troops in Ukraine

"The proposed force of 10,000 is significantly smaller than the 30,000 troops Starmer reportedly pitched to U.S. President Donald Trump during their White House meeting on Feb. 20.

"Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that European partners would need to station 100,000 to 150,000 troops on Ukraine's front lines to effectively deter Russia.

"U.K. defense sources told the Guardian on Feb. 18 that a much smaller European-led peacekeeping force could instead rely on intelligence, surveillance, and long-range monitoring to enforce a ceasefire."

You are wrong, ekrem.

They may as well send ten thousand football hooligans because thats all the use they will be.

If that were true, they wouldn't have let their armed forces fall into disrepair.

It is true. Their armed forces are not in disrepair (although I’m sure you will find someone on X who doesn’t know anything either to agree with you.

So stupid.

So tribal.
They have to spend €800 billion to get their combined EU combat power ready to fight Russia. Knowing what we know about Russia's armed forces, yes, Europe's armed forces are raggedy as hell. Most of the reason is their decades long dependence expectations that The United States would do most of the fighting.

Macron is telling us what he is doing. He is setting up the conditions for escalation.

PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday that a proposed European armed force for possible deployment in Ukraine in tandem with an eventual peace deal could “respond” to a Russian attack if Moscow launched one.

Macron spoke after talks with Ukraine’s president and ahead of a summit in Paris of some 30 nations on Thursday that will discuss the proposed force for Ukraine that Macron suggested could be deployed in “important towns” and elsewhere.

“If there was again a generalized aggression against Ukrainian soil, these armies would, in fact, be under attack and then it’s our usual framework of engagement,” Macron said. “Our soldiers, when they are engaged and deployed, are there to react and respond to the decisions of the commander in chief and, if they are in a conflict situation, to respond to it.”

He'll put troops into a war zone, and when they inevitably come under attack, he'll have his war.

The one where Surrender Monkey Trump will give Putin everything he wants
We need to pull out of NATO and our funding of it. Then this war would be over, we had no business in funding the war to begin with. We have blood on our hands, time to end it, before nuclear warfare starts.

No, Jknowgood, we will not let Russia, your emotional homeland, win.

Macron the little Napoleon is hated by his own people and a joke, a full blown war with Russia would lead to Europe being a smoking pile of rat shit, these people really are unhinged.
