UCF Are The 2017-18 NCAA Football Champions

The problem is, Auburn didn't come to play. Once they didn't make the playoffs, they didn't care. It happens every year. In 2008, Bama lost the SEC Championship in the final minutes of the game. They weren't going to the BCS Championship game. They played flat when they played against Utah. They lost.

The bowl game was the Super Bowl for UCF. For auburn it was their 7th best team to play this season. It didn't matter to them like it would if they were playing in the playoffs.

Is that right? No, of course every team should put their best into it. But when you have 18 to 22 year olds playing, you get emotional letdowns.

And UCF would have been destroyed in the playoffs. Both Bama and Georgia (and to an extent Oklahoma & Clemson) played their top game.

You know I have lots of respect for you, but when you have the recruits that Auburn has compared to UCF. The above makes no sense. Anyone who watched the game saw UCF was simply the better team.

They were one play away from a tie game!

Auburn was missing several players they had against GA and Bama.

Playing in November, UCF would have been beaten like a red-headed step child!

Much like Alabama missing 5 defensive starters by the November. What we saw last Monday was what could have been all season.

True, but Bama didn't stay in the game until the last play.

UCF allowed them to stay in the game. Any team that loses by a touchdown is still "one play away" from tying. It is still a seven point loss

Auburn was 14 points down in the fourth quarter. They scored a TD in garbage time to make the game look closer than it was
UCF dominated throughout

Bowl Games are played in January not November. Auburn had a month to prepare and get healthy to play an inferior opponent. Instead, they mailed it in and were embarrassed

And it will all be forgotten. Some people will remember it for UCF going undefeated. But few will remember that it was auburn they beat in the bowl.

I believe 50 years from now at UCF this game will be remembered
And the fact that they beat an SEC powerhouse will add to the legend

Pretty sure a shit ton of people remember Boise State's win over Oklahoma.

I remembered Boise State won. Until you mentioned Oklahoma, I did not remember who they beat.

But some people remember different things. I have been reminded that Utah beat Alabama in the bowl game after the 2008 season.

I think most people will forget. I'm pretty sure auburn will live it down.

Next year, UCF will go back to being a nobody

This year, they are somebody

They played a helluva game.

It'll be weird to see the only undefeated team not in the top three or four.

When the final rankings come out, I bet they still don't crack the top 5

When all was said and done....UCF got ranked as #7

NCAA Football - Amway Coaches Poll | USA Today Sports

The top four playoff teams were still ranked in the top 4 only jumbled
Ohio State still sat at #5 in spite of winning its game and two teams above them losing

Auburn got dumped to #12 as a way of showing UCF that its win was not such a big deal
