U.S. debt tops $38 trillion for the first time, worsened by government shutdown

I dont know how

But Trump has a habit of doing the impossible
Still waiting on Trump's Obamacare replacement. Still waiting on the Epstein Files. Still waiting for inflationo to come down. Still waiting for all those trade deals with those 90 countries. Still waiting for groceries to come down. Still waiting for the end of the war in Ukraine.

Wait, what? A ballroom, you say? My God, this man is the best president ever!

And the Gulf of America, too?!? WOW!!!

.

No, he has a habit of making you think he’s done the impossible.
What were trump’s odds of being elected president once, much less twice?

Your lib pollsters never gave him a chance

Tell democrats to stop holding the country hostage, for subsidies that are unnecessary. They were put in during covid, and then extended under Biden, they were due to sunset and covid is over.
The Democrat's actions are legal. What's your problem?

Well, if not the best ever then certainly the best Baby Boomer president we ever had

Debt was ~$9.5T before the trillion dollar annual "stimulus" by the magic Kenyan. $28T on auto pilot since//

Not long until we hit $40 trillion and with the exception of Rand Paul, nobody in D.C. seems to care much. Eventually, the bill will be due and the American people, most of whom fumble through their daily routines as the non-player characters they are, will simply point their finger at the other tribe as being responsible for the problem when, in truth, everyone is responsible.

Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and a prominent voice on the nation's fiscal policies, also expressed concern at the national debt topping $38 trillion.

"The reality is that we're becoming distressingly numb to our own dysfunction. We fail to pass budgets, we blow past deadlines, we ignore fiscal safeguards and we haggle over fractions of a budget while leaving the largest drivers untouched," she said in a statement. "Social Security and Medicare, for example, are just seven years from having their trust funds depleted — and you don't hear anything from our political leaders on how to avoid such a disaster."

I just saw on Facebook, so it's probably a lie, that Trump is going to use the tariffs to pay off the debt. I said before I would have supported tariffs if that's what it was going towards. I'll stand by that.

It took him losing the elections last week to change course. Republicans, you are welcome. If we didn't spank Donald he would be giving that money away to his billionaire buddies ONLY.

I also heard we were also getting $2000 checks back. Everyone who works.

So which is it?

Another round of tax cuts for the billionaires will solve the debt problem.

Our net worth is over 123 trillion dollars and rising so were not broke.

So, what are you cutting?

We can't even get rid of temporary COVID emergency related ACA subsidies without the Democrats shutting down the government.

I'm not gay. I just happen to like silk underwear. It's so much more soothing.

Taxation is a nonstarter because we've all seen over the past 60 years that the clowns can't ******* stop spending.
I'll vote for taxes.....

Once I've seen a spending reduction.

One dollar of taxes for every four of reduced (actual...not promised....we all know how that goes).

Increased taxes have to be part of the equation.

But spending reduction has to take place.

A large U.S. debt alone does not mean the country will become a failed state,
Most of the relevant think tanks say there IS a point of no return.

They think we are 10 to 15 years out at our current pace.
