Eventually, the bill will be due and the American people, most of whom fumble through their daily routines as the non-player characters they are, will simply point their finger at the other tribe as being responsible for the problem when, in truth, everyone is responsible.

Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and a prominent voice on the nation's fiscal policies, also expressed concern at the national debt topping $38 trillion.

"The reality is that we're becoming distressingly numb to our own dysfunction. We fail to pass budgets, we blow past deadlines, we ignore fiscal safeguards and we haggle over fractions of a budget while leaving the largest drivers untouched," she said in a statement. "Social Security and Medicare, for example, are just seven years from having their trust funds depleted — and you don't hear anything from our political leaders on how to avoid such a disaster."

I worked two full time jobs for a few weeks, and it nearly killed me, and I was in my early 40s at the time. My father, God rest his soul, worked two full time jobs most of my childhood so my mom could stay home. He then worked a farm on the weekends. I am still amazed at his Donald Trump-style stamina.

Odd how I was classified as essential during the COVID shutdown. I’ll be at yet another military base next week doing my essential.

I remember back in 2009 their saying that 24 trillion was the breaking point, that beyond that point, 100% of the GDP would go towards just paying the interest on the debt, yet here we are! If the hammer drops, I just hope you are good for the $175,000 you and every adult taxpayer will owe.

The only people responsible for this are the politicians in Washington.
