Bad cops killing people and bad lawyers trying to kill people. None of this helps society. Will these lawyers now be disbarred from practicing?

Two Brooklyn lawyers charged for throwing Molotov cocktail in NYPD car

Two Brooklyn lawyers have been charged for allegedly tossing a Molotov cocktail into a New York Police Department vehicle early Saturday morning during a protest decrying the police killing of George Floyd.

Colinford Mattis, 32, a corporate attorney with Pryor Cashman, and attorney Urooj Rahman, 31, were charged with the attack where they threw the bomb into an empty police cruiser that was parked outside the 88th Precinct station house in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, cops say.

Police say Rahman, a registered attorney in New York, tossed a bottle filled with gasoline through a broken window into the cruiser just before 1am but the Molotov cocktail failed to ignite.

Police chased and stopped the duo’s van on Willoughby Street and found the makings of another Molotov cocktail in the backseat and a gasoline container.

Both Rahman and Mattis were arrested and charged with attempting to damage or destroy law-enforcement vehicles. Neither had been arrested before.

They face a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in jail.

They face federal charges and will be arraigned Monday.

'No rational human being can ever believe that hurling firebombs at police officers and vehicles is justified,' Brooklyn US Attorney Richard Donaghue said.

Mattis lives in East New York and graduated from Princeton University and New York University law school in 2016, according to his Linkedin page.

Don't see that helping their careers. To that you just sit down and force them to carry you out while being arrested. Jesse et al. need to get out and tell the young bloods how it's done.

Oddly enough, this is what a large segment of ANTIFA is comprised of. Young, upwardly mobile, radical socialists.
For many ANTIFA activities are like a live action role play (LARP) for them. Their 'Fight Club' STS.

It's so ironic as to be borderline, or even full fledged psychotic. Someone works hard to achieve a goal, and, somewhere long the line they've been indoctrinated to believe that the very system that they worked in to achieve success has to be their enemy.

What this also illustrates is that the mob is so illogical and full of stupid followers that it is easier to get some viral hits of a burning vehicle than it is to write an op-ed or provide some cerebral assessment of both the true risks (from data) and best approach to improve the system.

Some of them don't want to improve or fix the system, they want it to go away. They want it to go away because many of their teachers, media and "role models", be it politicians or otherwise have romanticized the idea of upending the system.

Not all, but some of these broader, "big picture" ideals and efforts most likely has to have a global source of funding.

Don't be offended by this. I think you are one of the most even keeled guys on this site...but have you never examine the history of Socialist and Communist revolution?
The thing that draws so many young, bright people to the movement is it's promise to erase the past and create a utopian new. By most violent means necessary if required.
Communists do not do ballot boxes. They do burn, break, destroy, pogrom, re-educate, rebuild, rinse...and repeat.
To the Communist revolution IS all that there is. Violent, cleansing, struggle, is the nature of what and who they are.
Everybody is always 'Nazi!' this, and 'Fascist' that. No nooooo...it's the Communists...
The first big crop of proto Socialists has been hatched from the public education system and they are at a point in their lives where they have been sufficiently enabled. Those people are going to violently push for the idealized change they have been fed.

It's a idealism, easily attached to by the youth who don't know any better and just want to belong to something. Whether it's church or rioting, it's often the same motivation for people to have a sense of belonging and purpose, even if vastly different. For others who genuinely understand socialism, they want it enacted because they intend to pull the pursestrings, and in turn, peoples lives. It's about belonging for the young and downtrodden, it's about power for those with means and understanding.

I recall sitting in University classes and listening to the professor talk about how the poor have been persecuted and exploited in Canada. I listened to so many nodding their heads, some speaking out about poverty and that we need to do better. I will never forget hearing a woman express her anger with the injustices of wealth inequality and then as I walked to my bus stop after class to take me back to my shytehole apartment at the time, I saw her driving by from the campus in a porsche.

It's sad, that I reject socialism and had a strong internal belief is ambition and success for both myself and my country, and I am the one being crushed by the same extended members of abuse. It's quite ironic. Just as it was ironic that I was sitting in class rejecting these socialist ideals, even as I was born poor, and those with means were happily promoting and celebrating this ideology.

It's a reminder why Canada will continue to fall in global rankings. America needs to make sure not to follow in our footsteps. The same "leaders" pushing for global socialism don't realize how much they are undermining their own nations ability to succeed and lead. You can apply a similar basic concept to domestic politics. One has to have a broader, abstract view of the world.

I often say that we didn't win the cold war. They won, and they adopted our culture to do it.
