I didn't read through this entire thread but what I did, I will reply in general to the hypocrites. Trump suggests giving billions to industry to bail them out and not a word is said. Gabbard wants to help the people (which in turn would help industry) and those same people have conniptions.

There is a huge difference between temporarily giving billions and permanently giving trillions.

No there isn't. Your "temporary" never is. We have been providing socialist corporate subsidies for decades.

If everyone is guaranteed the same income whether they work or not and whether they are a brain surgeon or a trash collector, why would anyone work?

I don't think it could replace an income unless you work at Walmart stocking shelves. But I always found it an interesting concept if we removed all social programs and replaced it with UI. It would solve so many problems in this country, and this coming from a conservative.

The hungry would still be hungry and the drug dealers would be much richer.

We got school feeding programs because the parents were trading WIC and EBT for cash to buy drugs.

I think in many ways UI as she proposed it would create more problems than solve. And it still begs the question of what it would solve?

Well, it would solve the problem the Democrats have of finding a pretext on which to introduce this program so that it never, ever goes away again, like all other "temporary" government programs.

IMO he was a RINO long before Trump. One of the first things he did was increase taxes on our gasoline and diesel.

Finland is a good guide for the success and failure of a universal basic income since they tested this program in the past. If the goal for the basic income is to help an unemployed person living in poverty seek out employment easier since that basic income could provide them with a slight cushion as they search for a job or a bit of a failsafe if they end up with an unstable job then the income would help ease that uncertainty for them then in those cases the test was pretty much a failure as it did not help people gain meaningful employment, but if the goal of the basic income is to increase a person's feeling of self worth and to reduce stressors in their lives caused by poverty which could help make them happier and healthier then it was successful.

Tulsi's proposal is an addition to the over 80 social programs that we already have. UI could work if it were to replace all the other social programs. This is not what she's suggesting, but trying to introduce this concept so that it may be adjusted to that in the future, at least that's what I'm hoping is her goal.

There are lots of ways. I prefer taxing the wealthiest people. Trump will probably escalate the federal debt. The treasury could just simply create the money the same way they did in 2008.

The treasury simply creating the money would probably be best since the amount of wealth that just vaporized in the past couple of weeks is far greater than what the Treasury would need to create.
