Trump's deportation vow alarms Texas construction industry

Unfortunately many are spending the money on play instead of saving it for the future

50 years from now many of them will be demanding government subsidies to supplement their miserable lives

Which means they will be lifelong democrats
Some will spend it. Many won't. There will be alot more single independent people 50 years from now than there is today. Culture has changed and it isn't going back anytime soon.

Buuuuut, if a ton of illegals get shipped back to their home countries, the pressure driving the house prices up, will fall.

The housing crunch is BECAUSE of the millions of illegals.

DURRRRRR
I have yet to meet a single migrant worker with a mortgage.

‘"It would devastate our industry, we wouldn't finish our highways, we wouldn't finish our schools," said Stan Marek, CEO of Marek, a Houston-based commercial and residential construction giant. "Housing would disappear. I think they'd lose half their labor." Talk of a mass round up comes as Texas is booming. Texas cities regularly appear on lists of the country's fastest growing communities, and construction cranes and workers donning safety vests are common sites in most major cities.

That Texas relies on undocumented labor is one of the state's open secrets, despite Republicans' tough-on-immigration stances. In 2022, more than a half million immigrants worked in the construction industry, according to a report by the American Immigration Council and Texans for Economic Growth. Nearly 60% of that workforce was undocumented.

"The state needs to leverage both U.S.-born and immigrant talent to fill construction jobs that power the Texas economy," the report notes. "It's not remotely practical to round up and deport everybody," said economist Ray Perryman, the president and CEO of the Waco-based Perryman Group.’

Good!

Hire Americans.

Right, sealybobo? Why aren't you cheering this move from Trump?

Yeah, apparently the American taxpayer has been paying for them to live large in 300 a night hotels in New York.

The racist, bigoted right doesn’t care about the economic damage their fascist immigration agenda will cause; blinded by hate, they’re willing to cost Americans jobs and run the economy into the ground.

Oh, go **** yourself, chones. The Taxpayers are tired of living paycheck to paycheck while you lazy ***** sit around and swill beer and scream at people.

I’ve got news for you.

It threatens the construction industry all around the country.

Can someone please explain to me how this is going to end up reducing costs for American consumers?

Thanks.

Not sure about cotton but the produce industry is still largely hand picked. Expensive labor makes domestic food more expensive and has led to a record high food trade deficit.
So where are you on lowering the min wage?

Won’t this force them to pay a “living wage” to attract citizens?

It's funny because Trump used to make good use of illegals and pay them very little to make himself rich.
Trump always says the system is rigged and he knows it is because he got rich off recognizing that.

Now he’s trying to fix it.

So this CEO is admitting they hire illegals? Sure sounds like it.

They'd be following federal law. What part can't you grasp?

Yes they do which is why it isn't going to happen. Just like the Democrats spouting how they will counter ICE, most of the nonsense is simply empty political rhetoric.

And the Democrats REWARD the careless spender and punish the responsible saver!

Case in point: For elderly who have lived within their means their entire lives -going on modest vacations, buying a smaller house, etc. - in order to save for their old age, they can afford the outdated assisted living place at $7000 a month.

For those who spent every cent they earned on a big house, fancy vacations, the top level of every car, they now have no or minimal assets and thus qualify for the new subsidized place with a swimming pool, movie theater, and stainless steel in the kitchen.

AND Democrats will defend this by saying “poor people deserve to live nicely too” - ignoring that they are living BETTER than those who saved.
