Jacob Howard, author of the 14th amendment, in 1866, documented his objection in writing (and the court should have carefully noted it) >> "[E]very person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the government of the United States, but will include every other class of person.[9]

As he signed the birthright citizenship Executive Order today, Trump said, "We're the only country in the world that does this with birthright, as you know."

As I have pointed out many times, Trump's hubris and ignorance leads him to believe nobody knows anything until five minutes after he learns it.

So here's another thing the idiot has not learned: All of North, Central, and South America, every country with the exception of Colombia, has unrestricted birthright citizenship.

As do Chad and Tanzania, which Trump can't even find on a map.

Oh, I dunno... the order states that that provision of the 14th was originally intended to bestow citizenship on former slaves, and that that provision has become an unintended loophole to allow the born-here children of Illegal Aliens to remain upon United States soil. It's a good guess that Trump penned this one as soon as he was "back" so that the case could quickly escalate to the US Supreme Court (conservative-leaning at this point in time) to ask SCOTUS to confirm his interpretation of the 14th with respect to both original intent and the undesirability (in the context of the Best Interests of the United States) of allowing the Loophole Interpretation to remain standing. This is going to prove interesting.
