in an effort to guarantee an 80 seat loss in the midterms, the Republican Congress is attempting to link the IOF to the US military

How does this make any sense at all?

The U.S. House of Representatives drafted the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to include Section 224, the "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative." This provision outlines sweeping plans to deeply intertwine the U.S. and Israeli militaries and defense industries. [1, 2]
Key features of the proposed integration include:
  • Advanced Tech Sharing: Joint ventures and collaborative research in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, directed energy, and biotech. [1, 2]
  • Data and Network Fusion: Establishing "network integration" and "data fusion" frameworks, which would allow for unprecedented sharing of military data and communications between the two forces. [1, 2]
  • Weapons Co-production: Fostering bilateral manufacturing, joint ventures, and licensing agreements to streamline the production of defense equipment. [1, 2]
  • Industrial Base Integration: Creating a U.S.-Israel Defense Industrial Base Working Group to explore integrating Israel into the U.S. National Technology and Industrial Base (NTIB). [1]
For granular details on the legislation, you can review the House Armed Services Committee text or explore the policy priorities in the Defending Israel Overview. [1]
