Have the Dems pushed to take more of people’s hard earned money, pushed to take away the rights of the individual to make a decision on their own pay and benefits?
Um. No. Stop listening to Hate Radio, it's making you stupid.

Agreed... a toxic formulaIt's all rooted in lesser-of-two-evils. Which is rooted in the two party system, which is rooted in our election system.I agree with you, but what still bewilders me is the fighting stupid with stupid approach. The never ending hypocrisy on both sides and the outright lies that both sides spin to defend themselves and to demonize their opponents. While I'm sure as hell no fan of Trump, or many of his fans, I think I'm understanding this whole thing more now. Unfortunately, I think it's pretty clear the Democratic Party hasn't learned a ******* thing.
As people like Matthews and Carville and Bloomberg and Manchin try to sound the alarm bells for the party, it's clear that the party has been taken over by the loonies who insist that PC and Identity Politics are at the core of the party's worldview.
To put this as succinctly as I can, I think Trumpism is PUSHBACK against years and years of weaponized PC and Identity Politics. It's a primal scream of pent-up frustration. Burn it down, While much of it is pretty ugly to me, I do understand it, because I don't think that much of what the hardcore leftists who are in control of the party is actually American liberalism. I was called a racist for being against the ACA.
I warned about it long before Trump came down the elevator. I just didn't know how strong it would be.
June 23, 2013:Always nice to see pushback against the PC Police.
November 14, 2015:Spin & deflect for the PC-Protected religion, and you'll get the pushback you deserve. Tough shit. Be responsible for your words.
July 27, 2013:Looks like the PC Police are seeing that their phony "you're a racist" schtick isn't scaring some folks like it used to. It's still relatively effective, but the pushback is getting stronger. Hopefully the momentum will continue, and they'll have to actually engage in intellectually honest conversation for a change.
This doesn't mean that the Democrats will lose in November. I sure don't know. But I think I do understand this.

There used to be a day when the smart and responsible would rise above the nonsense and make their case using honesty logic and reason. That’s respectable. But Trump took it to the sewers and played off tribalism. It amazes me that so many are playing along. And it saddens me that those tactics are actually working

Sadly, that's just where we are, and we many just continue to decay like this. Or who knows, maybe not. That's probably the biggest reason I so wish there could be a strong and viable third party in the middle. Theoretically, it would prevent each of the two whacked-out "major" parties from doing what they're doing - appealing mostly to the most rabid elements of their base. I think this amazing devotion to, and celebration of, Trump's (insert adjective here) behaviors may just be a function of the pent-up frustration. He is their primal scream. Primal screams are ugly. We may just be underestimating the level of anger and frustration these people have in them.
And critically, let's not forget the people who have a vested professional interest in stoking, maintaining and increasing that frustration and anger. They've done a great job, and the efforts are clearly working.

That will likely never happen. Why do you think that Sander's is not running for the Socialist party? Because it would syphon votes from the Democrat party guaranteeing a Republican win. It's the same thing on the right if a very popular candidate ran as a Libertarian.
The only possible way to have more parties is if constituents in both parties get so pissed off at their leadership at the same time, that voting a different party will not guarantee a loss for the Democrats or Republicans; a third party for the right and a third party for the left.
That's probably the biggest reason I so wish there could be a strong and viable third party in the middle. Theoretically, it would prevent each of the two whacked-out "major" parties from doing what they're doing - appealing mostly to the most rabid elements of their base. Theoretically.

I don't think anything of substance changes unless and until we get money out of politics. As long as the two "major" parties control that, we're stuck. That's probably the biggest reason I so wish there could be a strong and viable third party in the middle. I’ve noticed you fence-sitters (WHOM CLEARLY ALL LEAN LEFT) have become all about this talking point and narrative...you are committed to making the GOP appear to be bat-shit crazy like your Leftist friends...BUT why do you refuse to talk policy?
I’ll ask again...what Republican policies are aimed to appeal “MOSTLY” to the most rabid elements of their base?
dblack you have my permission to add something of value as well.
You see, as much as Vichy Mac whines about how we are not "Moderate" enough, the reality is moderates lose. Hillary, Romney, McCain, Kerry, Gore, Dole... a whole litany of "Moderate" losers.
That's my guess, and it was the first thing I thought about when Trump won: That he would be so over-the-top that we'd get an over-the-top response from the Democrats. So is this some sort of cumulative flip back and forth thing, where the extremism increases exponentially every cycle? Or is it further reaching into generations of angst and anger finding it's outlet?
So, here we are. The chasm between the two parties is so wide now that the swings back and forth could just become more violent and insane.
