There you have it lefties. You get what you want. With the elimination of State income tax deduction places like New York and California which is where rich folk live, are going to see that perk eliminated.

You support the high state income tax in these states to support your liberal programs, don't expect the rest of the country to give you a pass anymore with state income tax exemption.

When I read his plan I thought it was a stroke of genius. The same States in which lobbyists are pushing hard for one payer healthcare but cannot find the money to fund their OWN state healthcare, will not have even less for Sanctuary Cities, anti-Trump funding and general globalist activities, including those with Canada and the Canadian security apparatus. On that note, notice how much less there have been of these activities now that Sessions and the WH were attempting to know where the funding for these anti-American activities was coming from? Want to bet alot of these donations are from foreign "allied" countries?

What does Trump lose in this? Nary a vote. Neither of these states were going to vote GOP regardless of what he did. "The Resistance" didn't do these states any favours did it?

Maybe all the late night talk show hosts can educate their viewers about fiscal management now.

Which is why it won't pass. Even Republicans in Blue states want to get re-elected.

Do you think the 14 Republican Congressmen from CA or the 8 Republican congressman from NY are going to vote for increasing taxes on their constituents?

So true. I was thinking how many are fleeing states like California due to many factors. Watch for more migration to states with lower cost of living. No state income tax locations will be all more popular

Oh the rich will make out fine, if the AMT tax is gone. They have so many more deductions. Tax cut for the rich, and the need to defund Chip, Medicaid, and start attacking Medicare.

They are in the minority, but it accomplishes what Democrats want. The rich will pay more

But they also will see their state income and property tax exemption eliminated

That sticks them good huh?

It will force citizens to question their high state taxes and adjust accordingly. Also, if I remember correctly, the majority of this tax was related to property taxes was it not? I don't recall this being specifically about state taxes, but rather property taxes, which are apparently so high in placed like New York and California that it has in effect passed the burden on to the federal government unfairly through this write off loophole

This would not be a huge issue in states which are reasonable, would be a huge burden to those in New York and California. Trump more than anyone understands the property tax pass on to the feds.

Trump tax plan eliminates big perk for high-tax states

WASHINGTON — President Trump will release a sweeping plan Wednesday to cut taxes and simplify the tax code that will eliminate the deduction for state and local taxes — a move that Gov. Andrew Cuomo has warned would be a “death blow” for New York.

Despite fierce opposition from high-tax states when the idea was first floated, the Trump administration is pushing ahead with the repeal, which would remove state and local income and property taxes as deductions on federal returns.

The perk — first enacted with the income tax in 1913 — is most heavily used in coastal, bluer states that include New York, California, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Repealing it would increase federal revenue by $1.3 trillion over the decade, according to the Tax Policy Center.

But it would also slam high-income New Yorkers.

Manhattan leads the way nationally in taking the deduction, with residents writing off an average of $24,898 on their federal returns.

It's just taking away a deduction. They could move to another state.

Maybe that's the idea. Let New York and California justify high government costs and excesses when you have high earners leaving.

Liberalism and it's economic and social cost is really the only enemy of The United States that is capable of destroying it and The American Dream.

The Federal Government should not be subsidizing irresponsible spending and taxation by irresponsible states through it's tax policies.

Eliminating deductions will also slap the middle and upper brackets.....

For the middle and upper-middle/lower-upper it can be offset via a combination of a rate decrease and an increase in the standard deduction.

Sure, in fact they should get rid of all deductions for companies and individuals and just make it a straight rate..Just think of the paperwork savings....

I still think a national sales tax is the way to go, but I would want the Income tax amendment repealed first so they couldn't just add that on again after.

You mean states and local governments who overtax won't be able to steal from the Fed?

Awwww, too bad!

Lower you taxes, you fucking socialists.

You are adapting the same standards of the left. It is our money. It is the people's money. No one is subsidizing anyone. It should be on the basis of what is fair. Is it far to tax people on the taxes they pay? Also it is not a credit but a deduction. Also the Trump tax plan is a built in tax increase. Unlike the standard deduction and personal exemption, the new standard exemption is not indexed to inflation. Also if you have a family of 4, you will see a tax increase as the standard deduction is less than the current standard deduction and personal exemption combined.

This is not about getting even. When you take the oath you do not swear to uphold the Constitution for states that voted for you.
