Trump targets homeless problem

Or whackadoo HHS Secretary probably bleevs the cure for a fentanyl addiction is Vitamin C and bear meat.

And where will all the staff come from?

Trump's EO claims there are 274,224 homeless in America.

Currently, there are about 900,000 hospital beds in America, all occupied. You can't possibly be stupid enough to believe another quarter million can be conjured up and staffed with enough MDs, psychiatrists, nurses, mental health technicians, counselors, radiologists, MRI and CAT scan machines and other multi-million dollar equipment, etc.

Especially since there is already a drastic shortage of all of these.

This is a bullshit populist EO.
Students are graduating every year without job prospects... why are you being so pig headed about this?... We can't keep doing what we've been doing it doesn't work and it kills people...
If you really love your fellow humans stop hurting them...

This is huge. The status quo, where the goal was to get these people back into society, has clearly been a massive failure.

I have been supporting this idea for years. It is cleary the right answer. THis could save thousands of lives. And reclaim our cities.

Hell,l maybe bring back the 24 hour donut shop and grocery stores.

Discuss.

Trump and the federal government will have as much success in getting rid of the homeless problem as it has had in getting rid of drug use after more than a century of trying. In the end, the federal government's CIA got into the drug business.

Such wishful thinking on your part.

Cheaper to bus them to Texas. 🇺🇸

They don't want to go to Texas, ZW.

California has ideal weather for living outside, the state has a massive social service safety net, permits people to crap on the sidewalks and has plenty of rich libs who have plenty of change to spare.

All we have to do is stop doing what we have been doing...

I've been advocating for this for years. Most of the homeless would be in some sort of mental institution or treatment center had we not shut most of them down 50 years ago. I understand the reason behind the closures, but that was the wrong approach. The abuse should have been dealt with by increasing oversight and adequate funding for these facilities. Closing them simply threw these people out onto the streets and now they live in squalor in tents and cardboard boxes in alley ways or right on the public sidewalks. They've destroyed entire urban neighborhoods.

Place them back in the institutions where they belong. Many of these people, with the right medication, could get their head straight and function in normal society again. We also have to ensure they receive continued support upon discharge so they don't end up back in the same situation again.
Have you ever actually interfaced with one and try and have a discussion? Back in 1990 I was working in Downtown St. Louis and I'd roam around at lunch in the city. There was one woman there who pan handled in the area, and one day, after seeing her often, I decided to talk to her. It was interesting and useless at the same time. She didn't wish to talk. I accepted that, but I wondered how she might be able to get out of that situation. I would think it hard to deal with individuals who really have no desire to engage. And, multiply that times however many more are just like she was. That could explain why they shut them down. There is no actual way one can communicate with them.

Students are graduating every year without job prospects...
That is totally incorrect when it comes to the medical industry. Ask any nursing student how many job offers they are flooded with. We can't keep the positions filled which already exist.

The U.S. is projected to experience a shortage of Registered Nurses (RNs) that is expected to intensify as Baby Boomers age and the need for health care grows. Compounding the problem is the fact that nursing schools across the country are struggling to expand capacity to meet the rising demand for care.
.

.
According to a Health Workforce Analysis published by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in November 2022, federal authorities project a shortage of 78,610 full-time RNs in 2025 and a shortage of 63,720 full-time RNs in 2030.

  • The United States is currently in the midst of a healthcare worker shortage which experts project will only get worse.

  • By the 2030s, the country could be faced with a shortage of nearly 200,000 nurses and 124,000 physicians.

  • Experts say that an aging population, an aging healthcare workforce and workers leaving due to burnout are driving the shortage.

.

I'm not the one hurting them, fool. Empty, populist EOs which pay only lip service to the problem which don't actually fund a solution are causing the harm.

Trump's idiotic aim to cut back harm reduction programs will do even more harm, by defintion.

I've done volunteer work with the homeless and addicts for over two decades. I happen to know what the **** I am talking about.

Trump doesn't.

The United States is experiencing a mental health crisis with increased levels of unmet behavioral health needs among people of all ages. The capacity of the behavioral healthworkforce to meet the demand is limited by supply and distribution challenges.

.
Substantial shortages of addiction counselors, marriage and family therapists, mental healthcounselors, psychologists, psychiatric physician assistants/associates, psychiatrists, andschool counselors are projected in 2037.

Check out Table 2:

Show me the Republicans funding a massive expansion of health care services, and I'm on board.

Trump and the Republicans couldn't even produce their ******* Obamacare replacement. They lied through their teeth, and health care costs continue to skyrocket because of their lies.

Anyone who bleevs this EO will achieve anything is an idiot.

The Republican final solution will be concentration camps. An Alligator Alcatraz for the homeless.

I live near one of the best nursing Jr Colleges in the west... it is full every semester... nursing is a great career and beats the hell out of Black studies or gender studies....
It won't happen overnight but with your attitude it will never happen... its people like you that keep mentally ill people down and out and dead on the city streets....

The fix is not more spending lib... its having the guts to do what's right for a change with the spending we are already doing... we are spending billions and its all being wasted on a failed plan...

You just said students are graduating without job prospects. You are positively schizophrenic.

My attitude is the right one. It is one of extreme skepticism based on Trump's past lies and failing performance in health care.

See post 289.

Nurses always have prospects... they are in high demand...

Talk is cheap, and there is a new one brought out that sounds good most days.
We will have to wait an actual while to see how things turn out.
Yes one always hopes things will be better not worse.

This is a good step in the right direction, it really is.
Some of those crazy people just need some baths and meals and activities instead of screaming at traffic.

Your attitude has not worked... so why keep trying?...

15th post
BEFORE: I will repeal and replace Obamacare on Day One.

AFTER: Nobody knew health care could be so complicated!

EVERYONE knows health care is complicated!

Trump is the kind of idiot who believes no one knows something if he doesn't know.

He knows nothing about what kind of care the homeless will require, and what kind of resources they will need.

He's a populist moron.

Your attitude has not worked... so why keep trying?...
Hey, asshole. My attitude has been to get in the trenches and help any way I can.

Every time I get depressed at the shitty resources out there, a lot of people come forward to tell me I saved their lives.

So **** you.

American freedom and making it illegal to exist do not go hand in hand.

So what is your argument for not confining people to a competent humane institution when those people are incapable of taking care of themselves?

/
Fascism will never bear the cost of that. It will create prison-like institutions and then abandon that and replace it with death.
