Trump stopped from shutting down the Department of Education

Biden deported more people than Trump...

Why are you not bitching about Trump... Cause he is in your tribe...

BTW Why isn't Trump passing a law to heavilly fine and jail employers who hire undocumented workers?

what Biden did was ask for money to enforce the immigration laws and Trump stopped congress from giving it...
I am bitching about the Federal Leviathan along with Trump.

Take health care, for example. Any idea how Obamacare was passed? Years ago the DNC needed the vote of Senator Ted Kennedy to pass Obamacare, problem was, he had brain cancer and were not sure if he would be around to be able to vote for it. So, democrats frantically tried to pass a series of laws preventing a runoff election to replace him. To make a long story short, that effort failed, and democrats lost their seat in, of all places, Massachusetts as the Republican Scott Brown was elected. Why did they elect Scott Brown, the first Republican to win there in about a half a century? It was because he ran against Obamacare. For you see, the people of Massachusetts had their own health care called Romneycare and the democrats knew it based on the polls, which is why they tried frantically to bypass the democratic vote.

Why then did Obamacare pass? It is because the democrat party used Reconciliation to bypass the vote of Brown, once again, something very undemocratic and unconstitutional, but the Legislative branch made their own rules even if it violates the Constitution and representative law. That is when you heard Nancy Pelosi famously say, "We have to pass this in the House to even know what is in the legislation."

But no, the reason the Left wants all the power in government is so they have these massive pots of money that no one can track, like we saw with the USAID revelations.

Sheer madness.

Health care is an excellent example of why the Federal government has too much power. The Left is always pointing to other countries like Sweden as being the model of why the nation needs universal health care.

But does the government of Sweden have as much corruption and are they as dysfunctional to run it? These clowns can't even pass a budget. In fact, Texas alone is larger than Sweden as the massive task of universal health care for such a massive number of people has never even been tried for the entire nation of the Disunited States.

And, as we see with the USAID revelations, there are simply not enough checks and balances to keep up with the ripe corruption of massive amounts of money flowing within the Federal government.

IF you leave health care to the states, again, people can choose to live in a state based upon where they are happiest. Do you want to live in a state that taxes you to death and everything is free, or a state where you have less taxation but more personal responsibility is needed? But for the sake of argument, what if all the states choose universal coverage for their state? You can then sit back and assess which one works the best and why that is, rather than being forced to believe that the political powers that be in Washington have it all figured out with no need of competition to weed out horrible ideas and just run with it indefinitely.

Congress created the Department of Education.
The President can do a lot of things to the DoEd, but he can't actually close the doors.
Then have Congress take them over. Put them in the Legislative Branch.

That is not Constitutional you say?

No shit Sherlock.

President Donald Trump has been forced to walk back his plans to shut down the Department of Education.

Trump announced on Thursday that he was signing an order that would “begin eliminating the federal Department of Education once and for all.”

He glossed over White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s earlier remarks that the Education Department would continue to handle student loans and Pell grants as well as other “critical functions,” including enforcing some civil rights laws and programs for students with disabilities.

The U-turn comes amid concern in the administration that Congress would balk at Trump’s plan to shutter the entire department.

Trump said he hoped that, “ultimately,” a bill would go before Congress to shut down the agency altogether.

“The Department of Education will be much smaller than it is today,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said ahead of Trump’s announcement. “When it comes to student loans and Pell grants, those will still be run out of the Department of Education. But we don’t need to be spending more than $3 trillion over the course of a few decades on a department that’s clearly failing in its initial intention to educate our students.”

What seems strange to me is that Congress and the Judicial branch seemingly has power over the Executive Branch. Why is that?

Trump is at the head of the Executive Branch, so it stands to reason he should be in control over it. It would be akin to Trump telling Congress what to do in any way with their branch.

Congress should have created the Fourth Branch of government under the Legislative branch instead of the Executive if they wanted to keep control over it.

Of course, you have an army of Federal judges doing the same thing to Trump, trying to tell him what he can and cannot do under the Constitution. But if I recall, the Constitution has nothing to say about an absolute army of unelected bureaucrats basically running the country.

Nothing.
Just proves he's not a dictator and respects Congress's power.

The title is a flat out LIE. Dem filth can't help themselves they LOVE TO LIE. No doubt some yahoo news Dem shill.

Shutting down the DoE was ALWAYS going to require action from Congress. Trump got the ball rolling but knew from the start congressional action was going to be required. Meanwhile he's gutting it which is within his powers.

cud it possibly be because congress CREATED THE DEPT OF EDUC? lol

Nonsense.

Nixon set up the EPA, for example, but the President has no power to do away with it either.

Essentially, you put a conservative President in power and are told that you have an army of Left wing radical Leftists you are in charge of you have no real power over and neither does the American voter who cannot vote them in or out of office

There is nothing more unconstitutional that the Fourth Branch of government Leftists created at the turn of the 20th century.
Nixon wasn't on his own... He had the support of Congress and Senate wto get it all into law

"The 1962 publication of Silent Spring, a best-selling book by Rachel Carson, alerted the public about the detrimental effects on animals and humans of the indiscriminate use of pesticide chemicals.<a href="United States Environmental Protection Agency - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>10<span>]</span></a>

In the years following, Congress discussed possible solutions. In 1968, a joint House–Senate colloquium was convened by the chairmen of the Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, Senator Henry M. Jackson, and the House Committee on Science and Astronautics, Representative George P. Miller, to discuss the need for and means of implementing a national environmental policy. Congress enacted the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and the law was based on ideas that had been discussed in the 1959 and subsequent hearings.<a href="United States Environmental Protection Agency - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>11<span>]</span></a><a href="United States Environmental Protection Agency - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>9<span>]</span></a>

The Richard Nixon administration made the environment a policy priority in 1969-1971 and created two new agencies, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and EPA.<a href="United States Environmental Protection Agency - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>12<span>]</span></a> Nixon signed NEPA into law on January 1, 1970. The law established the CEQ in the Executive Office of the President. NEPA required that a detailed statement of environmental impacts be prepared for all major federal actions significantly affecting the environment. The "detailed statement" would ultimately be referred to as an environmental impact statement (EIS).<a href="United States Environmental Protection Agency - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>6<span>]</span></a>"

Trump presidential powers are no absolute and he needs Congressional approval...
Why doesn't he just get congress to pass laws?

I think we just have to face the fact that education just isn't important to kids today, so why waste time and money on them? Don't we need lots of unskilled laborers now that Trump is deporting so many of them? Many industries can transition back to 'labor intensive' production. If these ignorant kids want to eat, they will have to take these jobs. Some of these industries can relocate to warmer climes where this uneducated labor force can comfortably live in tent cities all year around.

I think we just have to face the fact that education just isn't important to kids today

Yep, run your candidates on that. And when you convince enough voters to put them in power you'll be able to get rid of the institutional education system.

Good luck.

EPA was created to protect the environment from the products of higher education. Something to think about. ;)

I thought about it and concluded that you are out to lunch.

The kids and parents have already done that. The system is now just a big money pit, a welfare agency for teachers.

The kids and parents have already done that.

No they haven't.

There are no politicians running on dismantling the entire education system because supposedly institutionalized education is no longer needed.

Congress created the Department of Education.
Nope, Jimmy Carter created the DOE with an EO to repay the teacher unions

Congress merely passed it through in a bill to make it legislatively existing. Carter created it.
The President can do a lot of things to the DoEd, but he can't actually close the doors.
Needs congress to send a cancelation bill.

No they haven't.

There are no politicians running on dismantling the entire education system because supposedly institutionalized education is no longer needed.
Trump did.

I didn't say there was.

It would have only been temporarily dismantled anyway. The moment the next Dim gets back in the WH, the effort to balloon government will be back at full steam.

No, you didn't.
Higher education is meant to take advantage of problems, not solve them.

No nutter-butter, higher education is meant to educate.

You know - stuff like math, physics, chemistry, biology, history, government, literature.

Crazy concept, I know.
