Trump Says We've Never Needed NATO

We supported the Soviets because they kept Hitler occupied and bled the German military while we built up our forces for the Normandy invasion.

The Soviets lost 20 million lives for us.
They lost 20 million lives for themselves, many of them simply due to horrendous leadership.

**** you. I'm a retired veteran, dipshit. A Cold Warrior. Why the **** do you think I have been trying to tell you morons that Trump is a puppet of the mass murdering war criminal Stalinist KGB thug?
The Cold War is over. You need to move on to the present, not live in the past. NATO has outlived its purpose.

This is once again another example of shameful conduct by the president. The USA is the only country to ever invoke Article 5 of the NATO treaty, following 9-11, and our allies showed up.

Yep, they helped out a little in the post-911 Iraq/Saddam Hussein mop up action Taz, adding about 5-10% to the funding and manpower of the operation.

In other words, Trump is right: we invest 90% of the cost of NATO, then one time we used them, they committed about 5-10% to the cost of battling global terrorism--- a lose-lose situation if I ever saw one (for the USA).

Oh my! A few NATO countries actually got off their asses one time to fight global terrorism which actually began in their own backyards!

Why did the EU need 911 to begin addressing these issues in Iraq? Because then they would have bore 100% of the cost?

Trump is again being brutally honest--- for the little that NATO actually helps out when they help out at all, we could just as well cover that little extra ourselves and save a lot of money in the long run by not continually funding 90% of NATO year in and year out.

I am also a veteran of the cold war and know history, NATO needs us we do the heavy lifting. The NATO members disregarded the military for the last 50 years. depending on us to defend them. As soon as they take their defense serious we will.
Trump was 100% correct. Clinton, Bush, and Obama couldn’t do shit. After this shaming, they increased defense spending. Trump should up the ante. Pay more annually or I am gonna increase tariffs on your goods. Let these Euroweenies become China’s ***** and watch China destroyed their economy.

NATO should never have become a money pit for the US. The US should have pulled out Dec. 26, 1991.
We spend next to nothing on NATO

You don’t know what you’re talking about

Trumptard ignoramuses like you don't even know what NATO is.

Most of "NATO budget" is just individual country spending on THEIR OWN millitary.

NATO's direct institutional budget is about 5 billion dollars and only 15% of that is funded by US.
Well then, it doesn't look like it would be any big deal if NATO was disbanded, all those European bases were closed, and the troops brought home, huh?

Some day Trump will not embarrass the US. Today wasn't that day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Yes it would be big deal because that will make wars breaking out much more likely.

You think Russia would even think about invading Ukraine if they were smart enough to join NATO when Estonia and Litva did? Hell no.

You can't prove positive results with negative evidence, nitwit.

ou think Russia would even think about invading Ukraine if they were smart enough to join NATO when Estonia and Litva did?

Russia makes the very credible claim that it invaded The Ukraine specifically because it was being courted to join NATO and Russia saw that as a threat with US troops and bases on their southern border and blocking their access to The Black Sea.

This isn't 1949 ... Russia isn't an existential threat to the US, They couldn't even successfully invade The Ukraine which is their next-door neighbor, how the heck are they going to land troops on our continent?

If Europeans are frightened of Russia, they should get together and leave us out of it.

Three times in a century is enough for America to become involved in Europe's family feuds.

And a little Japanese.

The US should have never been involved in the affairs of Europe. None of our business. Not our place to play hero with the world. Let things settle where they will, we can take care of ourselves. Leave NATO.
