Trump says FEMA to be wound down after hurricane season

Been through THREE major hurricanes, Charlie, Ian and Milton.

Saw FEMA once. One time.

The folks that tarped the roof were the 7th Day Adventists. The group handing out food was the Catholic Church. The Baptists came around and helped clean up debris and the State of Florida and the county coordinated trucking the debris away.

FEMA was useless.
LOL....Relying on the local churches for disaster relief after a storm is your idea of what people should rely on after a disaster?. Very Dickensian. You think the local church will help pay for your rebuilding? You think the local church will assist in paying for your flood insurance?

FEMA goes, and in the next natural disaster, the biggest whiners will be MAGAs.

You think they will eliminate FEMA flood insurance? I hope so. These MAGAs will be in for a rude awakening.

From your article:
Trump suggested that in the future, less disaster aid for any recovery efforts would be provided by the federal government — but if sought, would come directly from the president’s office.
Yes. Doing something differently. That is not the same thing as not doing it.

I'm relaying to you exactly what happened. In fact that one time I did actually have FEMA come to the door, all we had in this area was flooding. As soon as I told them we had flood insurance, they disappeared like Kaiser Soza.

FEMA flood insurance?
yes

Flood insurance in the USA is primarily managed by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

During Charlie we were out of electricity for a month. The Churches did all the heavy lifting when it came to aid. We never saw FEMA.

Very interesting.
If we are going to play this game, I would like to see it get cancelled as well.

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) owes a significant debt to the U.S. Treasury, primarily due to payouts from catastrophic flood events like Hurricane Katrina. The NFIP's debt, currently exceeding $20 billion, is serviced by the premiums collected from policyholders. This debt, combined with rising interest costs, strains the program's financial sustainability.

Don't for a second think your bad experience with FEMA will carry any weight with the guy who just argued someone with a good FEMA experience proves FEMA is a not a disaster and a waste of money.

I have been in hurricanes too many to count, including Andrew, and at many of the more severe hurricanes, I had someone at FEMA knock on my door or was available for questions. I don't discount the good that local people, including churches, do after a disaster, such as donating food and supplies, but when it comes to rebuilding there is no substitute for FEMA.

15th post
How about you Google "FEMA trailers Katrina" and tell us how effective they are at providing shelter.
Tell who else did? If you're still in a FEMA trailer doesn't sound like the state did a damn thing.
