Praying for doom and gloom are ya?Nobel Prize-Winning Economist Warns of Trump Recession
A Nobel Prize-winning economist has told Newsweek that President Trump's trade policies and the ambiguity surrounding their implementation are pushing America toward an economic downturn.
The warning came from James Heckman, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago, who said: "The fear of tariffs and the uncertainty about their magnitude and duration is causing the recession."
Trump's trade math baffles economists It is "idiotic and flawed"
Trade economists were scratching their heads on Thursday at the formula used by the White House to measure trade imbalances and inflict punishment on all its global trading partners.
Handed a chart in the White House Rose Garden, US President Donald Trump presented the rationale for how his administration would impose reciprocal tariffs on partners ranging from major powers like China and Europe to the smallest nations.
The figures presented bear little resemblance to actual tariff levels, however. "This is to economics what creationism is to biology, astrology is to astronomy," former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers posted on X.

That was all BEFORE the stock market crash. It will be interesting to see if they now CAN do what they said they were going to do.What a surprise, an idiot complaining that the price of oil is down 12%. Anyone ever tell you where gas and diesel come from?
BTW, those March job numbers came in much higher than your "experts" expected.
Also, can't forget:
Johnson & Johnson: announced manufacturing, research and development, and technology investments of more than $55 billion in the U.S. over the next four years.
SoftBank: announced a $100 billion investment over the next four years with a promise to create 100,000 jobs focused on artificial intelligence and related infrastructure, according to CNBC.
United Arab Emirates: committed to a 10-year, $1.4 trillion agreement with the U.S. that will sustain existing investments in AI infrastructure, semiconductors, energy, and American manufacturing, according to Reuters.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company: to invest another $100 billion into its U.S. operations. The anticipated new chip fabrication plants, two advanced packaging facilities, and a new research and design center will increase the company's total investment in Phoenix to $165 billion—the largest foreign direct investment in U.S. history.
In January, Trump announced a $500 billion private investment in AI infrastructure led by OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank.
Apple: Tech giant Apple announced a $500 billion investment.
Nvidia: would invest hundreds of billions of dollars over the next four years in U.S.-based manufacturing operations.
True, but the expectations by the big-in-the-know moneyed people have already lost $6 Trillion on Friday alone.
Scary how much more damage he can do
so you believe slip and fall is a good strategy?
True but on the other hand, it was not a disaster as the poster stated.
Let him do his job?Nope, they should just let him do his job.
.
Let him do his job?
In other words, you hire someone to fix your toilet, and he begins by tearing down the entire house, you are going to sit back and "let him do the job"?
People who are proven to be incompetents, should never be allowed to "do the job" because they will bring additional and bigger problems than what you presently have.

Gawd almightly!!! when are all of you Trump supporters going to stop misinterpreting my posts and thinking I am saying one thing that I am not.So you don't think the government bureaucracy is bloated and needs to be reduced in size and scope?
.
Why is it that Trump supporters never question anything he does and yet they criticize EVERYTHING that any Democrat does?
Trump HISTORY has shown more failures than successes and the support
Gawd almightly!!! when are all of you Trump supporters going to stop misinterpreting my posts and thinking I am saying one thing that I am not.
Let me be clear
Ever since I can remember, each and every administration and president has been there to change something that is wrong. There is always something wrong and there will always be something wrong, given that all of us are human being and there is not one human being that is perfect. In fact, most human being and most administrations are corrupt, wasteful, and somewhat incompetent.
Having a new administration come in and try/attempt to change of fix the problems that exist is what it should be. Fixing the government bureaucracy is good. There IS a lot of waste and corruption and incompetence, or at least lack of ability or desire to change things for the better.
Having said that, no one can ever change humans, meaning that we all have to carefully study and evaluate whether the right changes are occurring and if they are for the better and not for the worse.
That is the absolute key................not for the worse.
In order to make changes for the better, you need more of a scalpel than a chainsaw. Perfection is not possible and therefore you need to be exact in targeting the problems that can be fixed (or improved) and do it, while understanding that bad things will continue to happen (not be totally resolved).
In simple words, improvement means more good than bad but understanding that both will continue to exist no matter what.
This requires a smart and intelligent person, that works closely with others (listens to them and listens to their advice), that works with the opposition (comprise), and that keys on the things that can be changed without destroying it all.
None of this applies to Trump!!!!!!!!!
From day one, I have clearly stated that my beef is not with either party, it is not with the issues themselves (though I do have a "few" issues I do believe in, over others) or with trying to fix things.
My issue is with Trump himself, as a person.
His entire history has been to make things worse than they were before (with very few exceptions), and it isn't just with the incompetence he shows but with the fact that he has no morals, ethics, principles or humanity (he is a narcissist), meaning that he does not care when things go wrong. He does not care who he hurts or the damage he creates.
Such a person brings the kind of danger to the nation (as he has caused to other people) that is irreparable and long lasting.
None of his supporters care enough to consider this fact and as such, will allow him to damage our country, more than any benefit he will bring, and let him do what he wants. Unfortunately, once the damage is done, it will not be able to be fixed by any future administration. When someone dies, he cannot be brought back to life.
Get rid of Trump and then we can all sit down and find ways to make our nation better (not perfect, of course).
Why change things (like the Republicans do) when these are always the resultsOf course the opposition has no interest in changing anything, it would disrupt their gravy train, the first thing congress needs to do is outlaw federal employee unions. Even FDR said they wouldn't be good for the country.
.
Federal employee unions do not have collective bargaining rights, so why are you bitching? They take what Congress gives them.Of course the opposition has no interest in changing anything, it would disrupt their gravy train, the first thing congress needs to do is outlaw federal employee unions. You actually think that Trump and the other 13 Billionaire Oligarchs do not want their own gravy train?Of course the opposition has no interest in changing anything, it would disrupt their gravy train, the first thing congress needs to do is outlaw federal employee unions. Even FDR said they wouldn't be good for the country.

Question for you. Do you think this is a positive to the nation? To us? The right way to get something accomplished?Of course the opposition has no interest in changing anything, it would disrupt their gravy train, the first thing congress needs to do is outlaw federal employee unions. Even FDR said they wouldn't be good for the country.
