The Constitution has the amendment process, why? Because the Founders knew that things would change and wanted the US to be able to move into the future. The problem is, the Constitution has petrified the US govt, it's incapable of moving forward, so it barely functions around a Constitution fit for the 18th century.

So the options are to either trash the whole thing or to modify and interpret as necessary. I’ll go with the latter. Birthright citizenship should not be a thing in the 21st century in the US. It really shouldn’t have been a thing for much of the 20th century. We are past due revisiting the subject.

Can you explain how sending money to DC, funding the DOE which then allocates some portion of that money back to the States is a cost savings? Has the public education system produced better or worse results since the creation of the DOE under Carter?

Untrue since many jobs only want a degreed person. Just because you major in a certain degree in college doesn't mean you will work in that field exclusively.
I know of social workers degreed people who work within the health industry liaisons between patients and medical device implants..

1. The Government takeover of student loans has zero to do with whether the DOE exists or not.
2. Since the Government take over of student loans has college tuition increased like crazy or has it stayed the same/come down?

He can reduce what DoE does or doesn't do so that it's nothing but a hollowed out shell. Just because Congress creates an executive dept doesn't mean the Executive has to utilize the dept. You are correct in that if Trump (and the Republicans) actually want to cut spending and reduce government over reach they need to do so through Congress not EO as the next President can just overturn it though their own EO.

Everything has increased since my first college year in 1979, I did earn enough money to pay cash by being a stripper.
