Trump Kills $500M Expansion of Nissan Plant in Mississippi

Hybrids are not a wholly bad idea.

However....
From those that are currently owning them...
The maintenance and constant repairs are something of a hassle.
It's not tires eating like a full out EV.

There is no constant repairs. Maintenance is no different than any other car.

But something seems to be constantly breaking on the things. (Death of a thousand cuts) kinda like the McClarens.....nice and expensive but you still can't drive them even if you can afford to own one. (Always in the shop)

Now I will say that eventually they will solve all these maintenance and reliability issues....and the cars will be just fine.

And if they perform like an Edison Motors Tractor (drive by wire) they can have insane amounts of torque and HP as well as braking power and regenerative coasting.

I'm not anywhere near close to pulling the trigger on a hybrid or any new vehicle.

I'd rather spend the gas money than pay a banker interest money.
Plus the new cars all report to the gubbermint. Not having it.

Since the EV Credits were euthanized by Trump, Nissan decided to euthanize the expansion of their plant in Canton, MS.

Talk about getting what you voted for!

The plant isn't closing...its just not expanding

As we're seeing with the great Iranian mis-adventure, putting all of your eggs in one basket energy-wise can be costly. It makes total sense to go with hybrid (I wouldn't do electric only) vehicles. Some lessons need to be learned the hard way. Mississippi is learning one.

Our tax dollars shouldn't be subsidizing corporations.

They don’t foot the bill.

If someone is getting a tax credit, someone else is making up for it.

From your article....

The latest survey results show that all-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles continue to be troublesome for their owners. However, hybrid models, which don’t require plugging in, continue to shine as reliable choices that also typically deliver excellent fuel economy

I didn't cut it short....I included the entire paragraph I was looking for. (I talk honestly)

Now if you read further down....Rivian and Hyundai are the two worst performing in reliability and maintenance. That's what we have here in GA and what I'm drawing my conclusions from.

I haven't ever seen a Toyota EV or Hybrid.
Have seen a few Teslas running around occasionally....kinda hard to miss.

Most around here drive pickup trucks. I drive a 4 door 1500 silverado because I am a citified person....the real rednecks drive 4 door 2500s or 250s...of course with 4wd, gooseneck hitch, brush guard, and winch.

I live in the country....

Yes, they have issues with EV's. I was not discussing EV's.

Tesla does not make a Hybrid.

We subsidize all manner of corporations. At one time (possibly still do) we were paying farmers to plant tobacco while trying to prevent tobacco usage.

I tend to agree with you that if all things were equal, there shouldn’t be a subsidy. With emerging technologies that are, without question, in the nation’s interest and there exists high barriers to entry...I think a subsidy is appropriate.

And then we have wind turbine projects that Trump is paying out two billion to stop construction.

So between the last few months, there have been nearly $2 billion in these payments. The administration had initially tried to block some of these wind projects from going forward, citing national security concerns. That was batted down in several different courts.
We’re apparently about to pay a bunch of the 1/6 insurrectionists for false imprisonment too...

Plug in hybrids have lots of issues.

Read the statement.

Plug ins. Fairly rare. Most hybrids are not plug ins.
Then WHY mentioned?

I'm honest....are you?

How about that Canadian Honda plant?

Nissan SUV?

Really?

People buy hybrids. Taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for them.
Like they do the airline industry, the petro industry, the banking industry, the automobile industry, the many others who feed at the government trough.

Try reading moron. Your article does not mention Trump AT ALL. Your article cites a 27% drop in sales of EVs--simple economics for Nissan's decision AND of all the ignorant nonsense that you spout--the democrats wrote the expiration into those tax credits--NOT TRUMP. Take your TDS down the road, you're an idiot.

Believing that the decision has nothing to do with Tump's policies and threats is just simply, weird.

It mentions the cessation of the subsidy...that is on Trump...try thinking moron.

The $500M hit to the poorest state in the union’s economy is just another sign that your blob loves f*cking over people like you who worship him. It couldn’t happen to a nicer scumbag. Just bend over and enjoy it.

Please link to anything stated in the supporting citation that validates your speculation. Take off the TDS hat. EVs aren't selling. The democrat-passed tax credits expired, clearly showing that the public isn't interested in EVs once the subsidy is gone. Nissan made a decision to short circuit a losing proposition. SMH. Bbbbut, Bbbbbut, Bbbbbut TRUMP!
LMFAO.

It mentions the EXPIRATION of the subsidy that was written into the law by THE DEMOCRATS, moron. Trump didn't have ANYTHING to do with it. From YOUR OP--

27% drop in U.S. EV sales and expired tax credits drove the decision.

BTW, you disingenuous piece of garbage, trying to substitute a pay-walled source instead of using the source cited in you OP doesn't do anything for your point either. Run along missy, as usual, you flushed your own thread.

I've seen threads and posts here on how to get around a pay-walled source. Maybe you could stop and take a break as your hatred is killing you.

Or you could cite an objective source, LOL, like the one used to support this OP. Seems that didn't work to your advantage, eh?
Here's something else that is apropos, do you recognize it? Take heed.
