How you derive that the Constitutional amendment EVER was intended to say (or that it somehow does say) that an illegal alien giving birth to a child on our soil automatically makes that newborn a US Citizen is the real mystery. It isn’t what the amendment says and absolutely not what it means.
The amendment says if you’re born here you’re a citizen. Simple. It didn’t say only children of us citizens born here are citizens.

It is not a mystery at all -- there were no illegal immigration laws in the 1860s when the 14th Amendment was written.

If you MAGA racists don't like the 14th Amendment anymore, then get Congress to repeal it.

Below is the current situation regarding all of Trump's Federal court cases. Trump is getting his ass handed to him right now by the Federal judges. --

Everything Trump is doing is blatantly unconstitutional. A 10 year old civics student can tell you that. Most of these court cases will just be laughed out of court.

What is Trump going to do when he ultimately loses most of these cases? Is he just going to ignore the rulings and become King Trump? That's my guess.

And his pathetic lackey JD Vance is already encouraging Trump to do just that.

Now that you hopefully have a clear view of what the Amendment ACTUALLY says, maybe we can get down to why the Interpretation of the Amendment needs to be corrected.

In that regard, courts look to the roots of any such law or Amensmwnt. Therefore it matters what one of the Amendmwnt’s own sponsors said at the time:

Sen. Trumbull stated during the drafting of the above national birthright law debates that it was the goal to “make citizens of everybody born in the United States who owe allegiance to the United States,” and if “the negro or white man belonged to a foreign Government he would not be a citizen.”

There a great deal of additional item of support for what was intended as opposed to how it has been interpreted to date.

Note. It is a topic worthy of additional discussion and debate. And, yes, there are two or more sides. But given what was said during the initial debates, I am hopeful that SCOTUS will accept the case (sooner rather than later) so that we can get on about the business of (hopefully) correcting the long-standing misinterpretation.
