Trump: Coca-cola agrees to use real cane sugar in US drinks

Mexican coke and the Jarritos sodas make great cocktail mixers. That's about all I use them for. I don't drink any soda otherwise.
Pretty much how I am as well. The daughter and grands like Jarritos but I'm with you coke is a mixer but so much better than the corn syrup recipe.

It was probably after they launched New Coke and it failed, so Coke went back to the old formula, that is probably did it then.

In reality, Coke with corn syrup, beet sugar or cane sugar can’t be all that healthy in large quantities.

It's not healthy in any quantity, but yeah, drink a lot of it, regardless of the sweetener, and it's bad.

President Trump was on a sugar high Wednesday, announcing that Coca-Cola would soon include the real sweet stuff in its US-sold beverages.

"I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so," Trump, 79, revealed on Truth Social.

Coca-Cola uses high fructose corn syrup in its US production, in contrast to cane sugar in countries like Mexico and the United Kingdom.

American coke, willing to do the job of a Mexican coke? ;)

Corn lobby gonna be pissed.

The main thrust of this move free up more of the corn crop for methanol production driving down the price of gasoline.

I'm watching While the Rest of US DIE on Vice. Great series. The one I'm watching now is about food. One thing I wonder while watching this is why isn't RFK Jr. and Pete Hegseth going after sugar? Is it because the Sugar industry has control over our government? Absolutely.

In 1980 Americans consumed 90 pounds of sugar and 15% of us were obese. In 2010 we upped our consumption to 120 pounds of sugar a year and obesity went up to 36%.

All the chronic metabolic diseases are caused by sugar or insulin.

Type 2 Diabeties, Fatty liver disease, hypertention, chardiovascular, hypertension, lipid, cancer, dementia..

The irony is that I don't add sugar to anything.

Do we really need government to tell us how to eat?

Do we really need government to tell us how to eat?

Not sure about "we." But some people do need the government to tell them how to eat, as well as what to eat, when to eat, and how much the government allows them to eat.

And they eat it.

Ok, but this is about Trump trying to telling companies how to do business. WTF - does he think he should just be able to order businesses around like this?

Yes, it's hard to imagine a more cost effective way to improve life expectancy and reduce healthcare costs than for government to provide sound dietery guidance.

Don't want to listen? Fine, damage yourself, but for government to not even try? Thats just ******* stupid.

LOL -- yep. If we put the government in charge of our healthcare, they'll be telling us how to eat. And how to sleep, how to ****, how to breath. How much government control over your life do you want??

Somebody telling you something is NOT someone controlling your life.

Just because government is telling you eating candy for breakfast lunch and dinner is bad doesn't mean you can't keep killing yourself by having candy for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Having said that, I do support government telling food stamp reciepients they can't have candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner...maybe lunch only

The President telling a company how to do business is.

I'm sure you do. Control is the entire point of those programs.

The President telling a company how to do business is.

No it isn't.

It's fucked that we have a president constantly abusing his office to get individual companies to come kiss his ring and do him "favors", but if you are so bent on drinking corn syrup cola then you have plenty of options from other companies.

Yea imagine that, having to follow some basic guidelines if your food gets paid by my tax dollars. What a crazy concept.

Don't want control? No problem, go buy it yourself.

Wow... Ok. I'm not how to play equivocation games with you. I won't quibble over your very special definition of the word "control". But these kinds of mandates are an abuse of government control. You may like it. I don't.

Yes. More with the very special definitions. Having "options" that are limited by the government isn't freedom.

Again, I have ask - do you draw any lines with regard to state power? Any area of your life you don't want government controlling??

Yes dummy, I like my freedom for you and I to eat all the candy we want (I just don't) and draw lines with reguard to state power.

This is like talking to a ******* toddler.
