Trump: Coca-cola agrees to use real cane sugar in US drinks

I'm waiting for Coke to announce a change. Until then, I'll just consider this more of Trump spewing social media BS.

I don't drink soda almost ever, so it doesn't change things for me either way. My lady definitely prefers the cane sugar Coke to the regular HFCS stuff, so if this actually happens, she'd be happy with it for her occasional Coke.

May be too expensive to implement

Lol... leftists are now complaining about job loss. The fact that high fructose corn syrup is cancer causing, **** em. Suddenly leftists want America to continue consuming this high fructose corn syrup poison. :auiqs.jpg: Too bad Trump wasn't the first to call for banning red dye. Leftists would prefer Americans to consume poison instead of doing the right thing.

If Trump can help the blind to see again, leftists will say impeach him because he didn't help the deaf to hear again.
Yet, Trump can't help anyone that is blind to see, he is not able to think that deep or bigly.

Why would he do that? Do we even have a sugarcane industry in the USA big enough to handle that or will they need to import the cane sugar from one of the Caribbean islands? Sugar cane is what Coke used in the USA at one time, but to save money and easier access, they changed to syrup or sugar beats, I believe

NOTE! I haven't read the article yet.

Well, Brazil is the largest sugar cane producer in the world and didn't Trump just impose a 50% tariff on them?

Here's the top 5 and U.S. is number 5.

Thanks.... for the link!

A lot, or most....about 55% of the sugar produced in the USA comes from sugar beets and 45% from cane sugar.

5. The United States

The U.S. is now the fifth largest sugar grower globally, with gross production expected to reach 8.4 million metric tons in the 2023-to-2024 growing season. Unlike most other countries, the U.S. is a major producer of both cane and beet sugar, with sugarcane accounting for about 45% of national production and sugar beets accounting for around 55%.34

In addition to sugarcane and sugar beets, corn represents another sweet cash crop for U.S. growers. The U.S. produced 7.5 million short tons of high-fructose corn syrup in 2022, down from a high of over nine million in the 2000s. These sweeteners are often used as sugar substitutes in the beverage, dairy, and processed food industries.56

They use high fructose corn syrup which is worse than cane sugar, it is more processed and is more quickly absorb in body. High fructose corn syrup is banned in Mexico, United Kingdom, Japan and some other Asian countries, cane or beet sugar is not banned in any country.

Do they? On a documentary on food that built America, it said they made a decision decades ago, to use sugar beets. They could technically claim their secret formula had not changed because both were sugar, cane and beets. Corn syrup would have been a formula change, is what was said in the documentary.

President Trump did it again!

He got the low-IQ left to openly sing praises to high fructose corn syrup and another billion-dollar corporation!

I love it! :happy-1::happy-1::happy-1:

Why is Trump meddling with something like this??

Then they need to be prosecuted for fraud because on their label is say high fructose corn syrup? Look it up on Amazon, Mexican coke comes in glass bottles and if you look at US coke cans they say high fructose corn sugar.

My local grocery store sells Mexican Coke, Mexican Fanta, and Mexican 7-up. Along with all the Jarritos brand sodas, which are all made with cane sugar.

Good news! I don't drink Coke that often, but I enjoy the caffeine kick I get from it.
Haven't had a coke in a long time, but I do recall the difference in flavor between US and Mexican produced coke. I prefer the cane sugar and many others do as well as Mexican coke is in many grocery stores.

Mexican coke and the Jarritos sodas make great cocktail mixers. That's about all I use them for. I don't drink any soda otherwise.

No, got you dipshits to cheer for a chemical sweetener and the billionaire corporation that uses it. LOL
Are really that dim?

Of course you are! I'm not cheering for anyone. I'm condemning government interference in the free market. Which is what you're cheering for.

That is good news, we need to quit using the high fructose crap.

I went to Stevia as a sweetener, I refuse to drink sugary or the artificial sweeteners.
There is actually different parts of Stevia used in various things and it's not all good. It's hard to know if your getting the good stuff.

I get the organic pure stevia, with no fillers.

Ahhh, ty! The history channel documentary was about Coke, early on....I did not know in 1985 they changed to corn syrup in the US.

It was probably after they launched New Coke and it failed, so Coke went back to the old formula, that is probably did it then.

In reality, Coke with corn syrup, beet sugar or cane sugar can’t be all that healthy in large quantities.
