A private club should be able to stituplate men only/women only, but this was a public corporation which likely had policies against discrimination. Therefore it was likely breaching its own policy and could be rightfully sued.

It is a right and wrong thing. If you can sue for women to be included in an all male event then it has to be the same the other direction. I personally would have no interest in going but discrimination is discrimination. Equal protection under the law is equal protection under the law.
