Mental health IS a medical issue. Suicide is a mental health and medical issue. Like most medical issues they treat the symptoms not the cause. It seems that the suicide rate for transgenders is the same before and after the surgery stays even through the process. So I’m not seeing the treatment as anything but trying to treat the symptoms, however I’m not a doctor, I just read results. I feel bad for them and their Medical disease. I hope they get the treatment they need and get well.When it comes to any sort of medical treatment, they need to go with what the evidence to date shows as the most treatment and that is weighed against mortality rates and adverse side effects. What “society” thinks of the patient shouldn’t be part of the calculus. No one is forcing you to “conform” and your feelings about it shouldn’t determine the patients right to effective treatment.
Who knows, maybe some day there will be new and more effective treatments, research continues to discover new things.

There are a lot of illnesses where we don't know the cause and can only treat the symptoms for now. Also it might have no single cause but the an interplay of multiple factors including environment.So I’m not seeing the treatment as anything but trying to treat the symptoms, however I’m not a doctor, I just read results. To claim that such a person is not mentally ill would be an extraordinary claim, and it would be on you to prove it with extraordinary proof. And you cannot muster even ordinary proof, much less the extraordinarily level required in this case, to support your premise.
