Zone1 Too Bad That God Promised No More Great Floods

DukeU commented "All of the continents were not established with man or animal yet. The earth was still very young.".

I don't know what to say. I love the Bible stories, but I haven't believed they were history since I was 10 years old. So you look for deeper meaning in the message or you turn off faith as fraud.

But you don't have perfect knowledge. Not even close. But rather than argue that point... sure, you want to blame God for everything that's bad? Go ahead. But shouldn't you then be giving God credit for everything that's good?
I finally let go of my faith because it was easier than walking around wanting to punch God in his indifferent face. If I die and God actually exists he will have to beg me for forgiveness. I didn't ask to be here in this fucked up place and he's got some splainin to do.

I have made some real stupid mistakes in my life, but God had nothing to do with it.

If you die? You might want to read Job chapter 40 for how that conversation will go.

"MEN frequently think that the evils in the world are more numerous than the good things, that just isn't the case. He who thinks that he can have flesh and bones without being subject to any external influence, or any of the accidents of matter, unconsciously wishes to reconcile two opposites, viz., to be at the same time subject and not subject to change. If man were never subject to change there could be no generation: there would be one single being, but no individuals forming a species. It would be in vain to expect to see living beings formed of the blood of menstruous women and the semen virile, who will not die, will never feel pain, or will move perpetually, or will shine like the sun. Whatever is formed of any matter receives the most perfect form possible in that species of matter: in each individual case the defects are in accordance with the defects of that individual matter. The best and most perfect being that can be formed of the blood and the semen is the species of man, for as far as man's nature is known, he is living, reasonable, and mortal. It is therefore impossible that man should be free from this species of evil. You will, nevertheless, find that the evils of the above kind which befall man are very few and rare.
It must be admitted as a fact that it cannot be said of God that He directly creates evil, or He has the direct intention to produce evil; this is impossible His works are all perfectly good. He only produces existence, and all existence is good. God is perfect goodness, and that all that comes from Him is absolutely good. Consequently the true work of God is all good, since it is existence. ALL the great evils which men cause to each other because of certain intentions, desires, opinions, or religious principles, are likewise due to non-existence, because they originate in ignorance, which is absence of wisdom. The numerous evils to which individual persons are exposed are due to the defects existing in the persons themselves. We suffer from the evils which we, by our own free will, inflict on ourselves and ascribe them to God, who is far from being connected with them. Man himself is the author of this class of evils. The error of the ignorant goes so far as to say that God's power is insufficient, because He has given to this Universe the properties which they imagine cause these great evils." Maimonides

People often say that random things that just happen are God's will. I wasn't angry about my mistakes. I was angry about the wretched deaths of several people I loved in a fairly short span of years. If that was God's will it was also his will that I got kind of raw about it.

So you are angry with God because people often say that random things that just happen are God's will?

And you don't believe that sounds illogical when I say it like that?

Speaking of a being that is superlative in every way having boundaries and limitations doesn't really make sense. We're back to the greatest of all cop-outs, God works in mysterious ways.

I've heard "God's will" mentioned at way too many funerals. Somehow it's supposed to make people feel better.

Spoken like someone who only sees the bad and dismisses the good. Which is odd because the good far outweighs the bad. It's not even close.

You were born to die. Just like everyone else. How you deal with it is your choice. No one else's.

My own eventual death does not bother me. Currently battling cancer. The same kind that killed my mom. Been thinking about death a lot lately. Has this caused me to reconsider anything? Not in the least.

Sounds like you have put God on trial, found him guilty and sentenced him to death. And it sounds like WinterBorn agrees with you too.

It's too bad that God beat you two to the punch. And even worse neither of you show him any mercy after he paid the price.

You have a hard eye.

mythology, not faith the attributes of life - remission to paradise.

that would be the evolution of the metaphysical - physiological / spiritual content - combined at the beginning of life and the the progressions that took for the various beings that have emerged from millions of years past - all on the same ark and were given the same message from the heavens for their progression into the future ... certain attitudes are unacceptable and will be punished - beware, the desert religions - as an example.

monotheistic, monogamous relationships - the pathway to perdition.
