To anyone who thinks this pandemic is nothing more than seasonal flu.

The article is from CNN so it is already suspect. The democrat lapdog media has become America"s Pravda only not as honest.

Really, so you actually do not thing this is happening at hospitals in New York City? Where is your evidence to show that hospitals in New York City have NOT had to hire refrigerated trucks to store the overflow of dead bodies?

Normal death rate in the U.S. is about 7,500 people per day. At 8.5 million people in New York City that is 2.2 %. That would suggest that NYC sees about 200 deaths a day on a normal day. They reported 90 dead yesterday from Covid-19. So, this isn't an order of magnitude higher.

Also it assumes that all deaths are in NYC.

Again, assuming that all 90 deaths are in NYC, this is a signifcant increase.

Not sure if the refrigerator truck story keeps it in perspective.

Surely there are days when deaths in NYC reach 220.....are they always at the ragged edge.

Check my numbers. I don't claim to be the best at this.

The US has just entered, what is called in biological warfare, the "BURN CYCLE". This is the third or fourth hop where the virus exponentially infects and overwhelms the medical systems. This is why a viral infection is seen to have waves. Each wave is 5-10 times bigger than the previous wave depending on its ability for one host to infect others. COVID-19 has a 1-10 infection rate.

Social distancing is the attempt to affect and reduce that rate. This reduces the size of the coming waves of ill people. This only buys you about two weeks or so to prepare for uncontrolled infection which will occur at some point.

It's naive is think the "seasonal flu" is child's play ... there exists the possibility next year's flu strain will be just as deadly, if not deadlier, than the current Covid-19 virus ... these vaccines we're offered every Fall aren't developed by exact science, it's biology and there's some educated guesses involved ... please don't mistake "getting real good" at this program means "perfect every year" ... that won't happen ...

We as a species need to think of this current pandemic as a wake up call ... "God warns every nation before He destroys them" ... this isn't the first time this has happened, and it sure ain't going to be the last time ... someday we'll see a real bad virus loosed upon us, something like the Black Death killing half of Europe, except now with quick ready transport around the world this will be half of everybody ... "millions dead" will be seen longingly as "the good ole days" ...

1] Commercial news media has ruined their reputation for fair and truthful reporting ... the Ebola scare ... the Zika scare ... both (apparently) came to nothing, so today with this new scare the media is not being generally believed ... and why should we? ... Free Press means we can report as Truth that John Wayne's mother was a three-headed lizard monster for the planet Arcturus d ... most lies are protected under the Constitution ...

2] International travel is the primary vector for Covid-19 ... folks in Wuhan got infected, showing no symptoms, then flew all around the world just in time to be infectious at their destinations ... this travel is strictly luxury, we have the internet to conduct business ... the face-to-face meetings are nice, but can be eliminated ... biological viruses can't be spread over the internet ...

3] Smaller government means no pandemic response capacity ... perhaps conservatives can rethink this philosophy and focus on unnecessary government expenses ... for now leave in place government programs that are working as designed ... I would start with the expense of the USA being de facto World Police™ ... if the Rich want their business interests overseas protected, let them protect those interests themselves, they can afford it ...

DISCLAIMER: I'm still skeptical about the degree of this pandemic, but will continue following health officials recommendations to the letter ... but then these lock-downs aren't harming me financially at all ... I can see where others might not be able to lock-down with out major consequences ... thus I'm doing my part so others can do what they need to do ...

Inside a Brooklyn hospital that is overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients and deaths
Brookdale Hospital, which began seeing Covid-19 patients at the beginning of March, said it now has more than 100 patients who have tested positive for the virus, and 78 additional patients are hospitalized as they await results. As of Sunday, at least 20 patients had died after contracting the virus.
The hospital sees over 100,000 patients annually, and has a capacity of about 300 people at any given time, Khari Edwards, the hospital's vice president of external affairs, told CNN.
But with coronavirus cases rapidly increasing, there has been an influx of patients.
Already, the hospital has started to open up floors that have not been in use for years to make room for more patient beds, Mollette said. The hospital has also converted its pediatric emergency department into a Covid-19 isolation area, she added.
To separate the space from other wings of the hospital, health care workers hung plastic sheets from the walls, and used duct tape to prevent them from falling.
"I can say that every corner every part of the hallway, every room, every space has been filled up to capacity with our patients," Mollette said.
Inside the ER, a cacophony of coughing filled the room as one nurse walked through rows of filled beds to feed a patient juice.
Meanwhile, the ICU is quieter -- as the lulled beep of machines, including ventilators, reverberates.
The hospital's morgue is also overflowing.
Edwards said the morgue can usually hold around 20 people, and the hospital's already "gone over that" number.
The hospital now has a refrigerated truck provided by the state to help with the overflow of bodies.
"What's more so terrifying is you have family members who can't come pick up normally as they lose a family member," Edwards said. "Funeral homes are swamped."
Health care workers have already begun preparing additional beds in anticipation of having even more patients in the coming weeks, Edwards said.

The flu kills 30,000 people, many old every year, yet there is no liberal outrage when this happens. Now with the Wuhan Virus and only 2,000 dead, the panic is outrageous and made to make the President look bad, yet it isnt working. Sleepy Joe the groper Biden and the brown turd Oblummer were golfing while the H1N1 virus was out killing hundreds of thousands, yet liberals want sleepy groping Joe back in office. Why? So more hundreds of thousands of people can die on the next outbreak of a Chinese virus...

Government money is running out. Too many people now rely on liberal government handout programs. Thinning the population means less social welfare dependents and more money for pols. Sure they want Quid-Pro-Joe in office. Their paychecks may even grow exponentially, depending on how many hundreds of thousands die in his outbreak of virus.

Yawn when this year's flu season is over with get back in touch. We have over 22,000 flu deaths
Do you really think that’s a wise way of looking at this?

Yea, it's call perspective.

CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza

Looks like Covid19 isn't nearly as bad as the flu.
What if Birx and Fauci and others looking at 100K minimum are right?

World O Meters revised their New York numbers up about 90 to 180. Overall was about 350 (better than 525 the day before) but with that increase, I could see the issue with needing a place to store corpses.

New York, poor bastards, are already at 155 today.

Government money is running out ...

We're over $20 trillion in debt ... government money ran out a long time ago ...
What is amusing is that we are in debt, Oblummer created 14 trillion dollars of that 20 trillion of debt, but all other countries are in debt also, lowering their interest rates to manipulate their currencies. So a loaf a bread that was a nickle in 1972 went to 50 cents under Carter, then 2 dollar under Oblummer, the next president will see 2 dollars 50 cents, because gasoline is so cheap. If you cut off welfare , 1 trillion dollars is saved every year, in 16 years the national debt would be wiped clean, more people working than ever, or they would be shot for trying to steal other peoples goods....
