You can literally go to the oxygen isotope curve to see the temperature of the last time the arctic circle was ice free. You can also see the temperature threshold for extensive northern hemisphere continental glaciation which would cover significant portions of NA, Asia and Europe with a 3000 m ice sheet and displace 250 million people and cause upwards of hundreds of trillions of dollars in property destruction.

it's apparently too late now to avoid significant adverse effects and we have to get moving to avoid the catastrophic. I don't know the particular thing you are talking about but I am glad the US and Germany are working together on this even though one of the motivations will be to make a bob or two. I think we all need to pool together on climate change and certainly need to help the poorer countries who are going to go under first when we are the main culprits.

For humans it is what we have had since the ice age. That allowed us to become capable of destroying the planet. But in general as long as we have been here is the conditions we need for survival and we need all the insets and other creatures which create our environment. If they go extinct then likely so do we. We are able to move quickly and change things. Not so easy for most other creatures. When Greenland the artic and the Antarctic melt a lot of the land will disappear. What we most need to do is change our energy to renewables and away from fossil fuel. The fossil fuel industry has been aware of this since the 60's and have been paying people to give false reports which a lot of people believed, Not now though. I think there was some good news about nuclear fusion recently. That hopefully will make a significant difference.
