This is an example of why people need to vote!

so you don't care about another states senator that has an effect on national legislation, but for some reason we should all be scared of someone who was elected to the state legislature of another state who has no effect on us whatsoever?

your ideas were on the ballot. As well as your candidates and policies. The policies you elected Obama for were on the ballot and people overwhelmingly voted to stop them.
37% voter turn out isnt overwhelming...you dipshit

If you're a bit of a kook, and you have a following among like-minded kooks, and you know that voter turnout is pretty low in an off year election, then all you have to do is convince less than 1/5 of eligible voters to pull the lever next to your name. That's not necessarily all that difficult if you're running in a very religiously conservative area and you've got the support of a powerful man like Dr James Dobson who will likely minimize your crazier pronouncements.

But if a large segment of eligible voters turn out every election, it's much more of an uphill battle for some kook to end up serving in elective office.

the solution is to have voter tests so we can have qualified voters and real democracy. This is only common sense.

sadly this is what people like avatar dont understand.

People did vote. They voted against you. Funny how you are never concerned about the voter turnout when you win.

And if you are so concerned about nutjobs in the Senate, why did the Democrats run Al Franken again?

I wasn't on the ballot.

What percentage of eligible voters went to the polls? A third? Forty percent? With numbers like that, little more than 21% of the electorate can put someone in office.

As far as Franken is concerned, he's not my senator so I don't know all that much about him. But I hope you're not suggesting that a former television performer shouldn't run for office considering that Reagan was a one-time pitchman for GE when he hosted General Electric Theater. on TV. But I actually hear Franken has actually immersed himself in the minutiae of doing the work of being a U. S. Senator. At any rate, he's certainly not running out to meet the cameras every day like John McCain does.

You're just mad. All the far leftists on this board are mad. Even Republicans didn't whine this bad when they lost in 2008 and 2012. I mean seriously. Time to suck it up and move on.

Reagan turned out to be one of the greatest presidents ever, and nearly 35 years after the 1980 election, people like you are still upset that he pasted Carter and Mondale. Grow up.

I live in Colorado. Mercifully, we usually seem to avoid the embarrassment (not to mention the horror) of having nut cases in positions of power. I should qualify that statement to say that we usually don't have nut cases in power in an official gov't postion like an elective office. Private organizations are another matter entirely since any flake can plant a flag and look for like-minded loons who share their delusions.

Well, with the Republican electoral wave of 2014, I guess it was too much to hope that nut cases wouldn't sweep in like some kind of political flotsam and jetsam with the otherwise normal people who just have a more conservative view of governance. IMHO, this is the natural result of too many sane people not voting and giving over the electoral process to highly motivated partisans, many of whom have a highly questionable grip on reality.

Well, I guess when you've dodged the bullet for such a long time, it's only a question of time until that good fortune will come to an end if and when most people don't vote and hand the process over to people who realized that voter apathy can work in their favor.

By the way, this thread is also meant to put people on the right on notice as well as people on the left. Why? Because fruit loops like this guy just makes everyone on the right look a little nutty if this is the kind of person who can actually win a nomination in a Republican Party primary let alone win a seat in a State assembly.

LOL! I'm not mad. First of all, I'm not a Democrat. I'm not involved in party pol.itics. I'm just a voter who choose the candidate who I think is the best for the job (or the least objectionable out of the usually two viable candidates). Sadly, in the last couple of decades, Republicans haven't even been in the running because they're too extreme as far as I'm concerned. But people are going to find out just how extreme the Republicans are before too long because I think they're going to overreach VERY soon. In fact, it would not surprise me in the least if the subject of Impeachment is raised in the party by the people who just can't abide President Obama being president no matter what his policies might be.

Mark my words, conservative Republicans will show their true colors VERY soon.

So? These days, if a conservative takes a position against something, I tend to think it's probably a pretty good idea even before I look into the details.

Mostly republicans voted, they voted against democrats. With only a 36.6 percent voter turnout, there's no way republicans can claim conservative dogma was 'endorsed,' or that policies advocated by democrats were 'rejected.' Democrats lost because they once again failed to get out the vote, and they deserved to lose accordingly. But don't fool yourself by believing this was some sort of 'mandate' for republicans, because it wasn't.

How sad the first stage of recovery, denial. You make a whole lot of persumptions based on what? Your ability to construct reality into your image? First of all whatever percentage voted one would have to assume were mostly Republicans. One would further have to assume, using your reality, that Republicans are better citizens because they got off their duff and voted. Secondly you need to assume that the lack of democrat voters, as you suggest, is because they had to get an abortion verses not wishing to vote Republican but can't hold their noses any longer and vote for Democrats.

So the logic is, those who didn't vote were not motivated to vote for whatever reason. The Democrats ran on nothing but negativism and unfortunately for them, Obama's record and the last 8 years.

Exactly why the left wing democrats got their balls handed to them.

so you don't care about another states senator that has an effect on national legislation, but for some reason we should all be scared of someone who was elected to the state legislature of another state who has no effect on us whatsoever?

your ideas were on the ballot. As well as your candidates and policies. The policies you elected Obama for were on the ballot and people overwhelmingly voted to stop them.
37% voter turn out isnt overwhelming...you dipshit

for a mid term election it's not bad. Some people vote by doing nothing.

that's still a super majority that doesn't approve of the presidents job

Maybe the op can find us someone from a city counsel in some state next that we need to hate on

sheesh

lets see. Over half voted against being conservative and assuming only half that's 18 1/2 voting against the policies. Add that to the 63% that didn't show up and you find only 18 1/5% who support the president and 81 1/2% who do not support the presidents agenda.

81% of anything would be considered a super majority. So yeah it is that simple
