Trump waives U.S. shipping law for 60 days to steady oil market

President Donald Trump issued a 60-day waiver of a longstanding U.S. shipping law in an attempt to stabilize oil markets amid the Iran war, the White House confirmed to CNBC on Wednesday.

The temporary suspension of the Jones Act “will allow vital resources like oil, natural gas, fertilizer, and coal to flow freely to U.S. ports for sixty days,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

The Trump administration “remains committed to continuing to strengthen our critical supply chains,” Leavitt said.

Expectations for the next Fed rate cut get pushed back after hot inflation report

The inflation report is for February so it does not reflect higher gasoline prices which effects everything that is moved by transport powered by fossil fuels. WTI and Brent crude are up 3% and 6% respectively. The average price of a gallon of gas in the US is up about $1.00 since trump, sorry....Bebe, decided to start the war.

The market was already predicting a small chance of a rate cut late this year. That may be off the table. Especially since Sen. Tillis will not vote to confirm trump's choice for the Fed chair until Powell is no longer in legal jeopardy.

Let's just say things could be going better.

Looks like Trump is looking out for "the "People".
Something you fools will deny, because he's Trump.

Cry more, loser.

He jumps in, creates chaos, then has to (try to) fix the chaos he created.

That's all he knows.

Now America is no longer credible, trusted or respected.
Thats what we have been doing for generations.
You understand history didnt start a few years ago, right?

Looks like Trump is looking out for "the "People".
If that were true he would not have sent Jared and Steve to negotiate the subject of uranium enrichment. One so obviously over their heads. Nor would he have acquiesced to Bebe in starting the war when negotiations were ongoing.

Between tariffs and the war Dotard owns inflation. The thing that caused Harris to lose the election. That and immigration, which the Bigot-in-Chief has amazingly turned from a plus issue for him to a negative.

Your posts are desperation day in and day out, every day.

The Jones Act, also known as the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, is a U.S. federal law that requires that all goods transported by water between U.S. ports be carried on U.S.-built, U.S.-owned, and U.S.-crewed ships.

berg80 trump did absolutely nothing.

1. Every ship that's loaded right now already has a buyer and a destination.
2. Every ship that is empty is already contracted out to pick up their next load and deliver it to the buyer.
3. That leaves no ships to bring extra products to the United States.

trump of course can change this by using your tax dollars to buy out the contracts of the ships and buyers.

He’s punching “the People” in the face and wanting credit for how much better it feels when he stops punching “the People” in the face.

We are stuck in an abusive relationship with this guy.

Time to drop NATO, they showed who they are..........Takers.
Treat them with respect, Trump, and you won't get kicked in the face.

At the height of the war, NATO’s ISAF mission deployed about 131,730 troops from 48 contributing nations. After 2015, under the NATO-ed Resolute Support Mission, troop levels ranged from 16,000 (2020) down to 10,000 (2021).

Damn, Trump is using his pull to help see our country through these choppy waters more smoothly until this Iran business is completed--- what will the rat bastard try next?

Gee, do ya think if Trump were doing the exact opposite, nothing at all, that you still wouldn't be complaining?

You don't even know what those terms mean or how they play into US policies.
